Best NHL Prop Bets February 9

Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers

Zach Hyman O 0.5 Points -225 (DraftKings)

This will be the safest bet of the day. Bet on Zach Hyman to have at least one point in this game.

Zach Hyman is not receiving much attention this season, but that is primarily because he plays behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. However, he is having a solid season, and I would not minimize his accomplishments. Hyman went without a point in his previous game but has 60 points (26 goals, 34 assists) in 50 games this season. He averages over one point a game on the road and at home, so it makes sense to bet on the over.

Hyman is also going up against a Flyers squad that allows nearly 32 shots a game and 3.14 goals. I expect the Oilers to finish this game with four goals, so I would be surprised if he goes without a point.

Vancouver Canucks vs New York Islanders

Anders Lee O 2.5 Shots on Goal -160 (FanDuel)

This prop bet is also a safe one but not as safe as the first one. Anders Lee is a gifted player that is not afraid to shoot, so I would bet on him to have three shots or more in this game.

Anders Lee comes into this game with 143 shots in 54 games. That makes for an average of 2.65 shots per game. With that being said, he does not always get three or more shots off a game. In his previous two matchups, he only has one combined shot. However, I expect him to return to form tonight. Lee will be facing a struggling Canucks team, so he will have many opportunities to take shots and score. There is not much more to say. Bet on Anders Lee.

Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers

Darnell Nurse U 2.5 Shots -145 (DraftKings)

Darnell Nurse is having an under-the-radar season, but opposing teams do not take him lightly. The winger has played in 51 games and has six goals and 25 assists. That may not sound all that impressive to you, but Nurse also has a +/- of 16 (second-highest on the Oilers). With that being said, I do not expect him to shoot three or more times. Bet on the under.

Nurse is averaging just below 2.5 shots a game this season. I realize that number could sway you in either direction, but I will explain why you should bet on the under. The Flyers allow 31.7 shots per game. 12-15 of those shots will go to the Oilers’ primary goal scorers (Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman). That means there are 15-18 shots for the rest of the team. Nurse will probably get two of those shots, but I would not bet on him having any more.

I do not need to say much else. I am a fan of Darnell Nurse, but he will not be hitting the over on this bet.
