A new episode of Ride the Line with Tanner Kern and Grant Mitchell is now live on all WSN platforms!
The Ride the Line boys were back in action Monday to talk about their favorite MLB betting picks to kick off the new week.
The show started with Grant taking the Cincinnati Reds on the runline against the Baltimore Orioles. This matchup features two young and exciting teams that not only have bright futures, but that have been performing very well in the present.
Grant likes the Reds because of how hot their offense has been recently. They scored the second-most runs in the league over the last month and have covered in 13 of their last 19 games.
Tanner also likes the Reds but took it a step further and went for them on the moneyline. He pointed to a lackluster pitching matchup and Cinci’s strong performances on the road as the main catalysts for his pick.
The co-hosts then dove into a conversation about Elly De La Cruz and what it will take for him to win the Rookie of the Year award. Though he has an uphill battle in front of him, he could not have asked for a much better start.
Grant’s second pick was the Atlanta Braves on the runline against the Minnesota Twins. The Braves lead the league in scoring, batting average, and slugging percentage over the last month and have won 10 of their last 11 games. Although the Twins will start Sonny Gray, the Braves have Spencer Strider to counter.
Tanner then went on to take the Los Angeles Angels, who both beat the Colorado Rockies 25-1 but lost a three-game series, on the moneyline at home against the Chicago White Sox. Reid Detmers had one of his best starts of the season, and the White Sox are too inconsistent to trust on the road.
Grant’s final pick is the Washington Nationals on the runline against the Seattle Mariners. He pointed to the Nats taking two of three against the San Diego Padres earlier in their West Coast road trip as proof they can handle the circumstances, along with them being the fifth-best team in the MLB against the spread over the course of the season.
Tanner warned against this pick because of the Mariners’ offensive resurgence in recent series such as that against the New York Yankees, but Grant trusts Washington’s offense to put together enough runs to cover as underdogs.
The show closes out with Tanner’s pick of the Texas Rangers’ runline against the Detroit Tigers. The Rangers are the second-best team in baseball against the spread, whereas the Tigers are close to 50%. Andrew Heaney is also getting the start for a Texas team that has been dominant at home and is better in all phases of the game.
Check back on Wednesday for more picks from the Ride the Line podcast!
