A new episode of Ride the Line with Grant Mitchell and Tanner Kern is now live on all WSN platforms!

NFL Week 2 Betting Picks

The show welcomes back Grant from his hiatus and starts with a brief recap of Thursday Night Football. Not only was Kirk Cousins labeled as “him” for his performance, but there was a discussion about whether or not the New York Jets should trade for him to try to stabilize their season.

Tanner’s first pick of the show is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ moneyline against the Chicago Bears. Baker Mayfield turned in a great performance in Week 1 in an upset victory against the Minnesota Vikings, and Tanner thinks they can win this game and become sneaky contenders in the NFC South.

Grant still has some reservations about the Bucs. His primary concern is that Mayfield supposedly knew what defense the Vikings were in and still couldn’t get to 200 yards passing. He also knows the Bears’ offense is oozing with potential, though it did not call a good game in a Week 1 blowout loss.

Grant’s first pick is the Washington Commanders +3.5 against the Denver Broncos. The Commanders beat but did not cover in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, but the offense flashed some explosiveness. The Broncos also lost and did not cover in what may have been Russell Wilson’s best game with the Broncos, and Grant thinks he’ll struggle against a stout Commanders defense.

Tanner, harboring some resentment for Sam Howell after he missed the over on his passing total, doesn’t have a strong lean but also likes the Commanders at +3.5. He keeps waiting for Wilson to break out of his slump, but that day has not come.

Tanner’s second pick is the Los Angeles Chargers’ moneyline against the Tennessee Titans. LA gained a ton of yards and scored a ton of points in Week 1 and is facing a Titans team that barely scraped together 15 points in its season debut.

Grant is concerned that the Chargers were reliant on their running game and are now facing the league’s best rushing defense. He also noted that although the Titans lost last week, it was only by one point on the road in a game in which they threw three interceptions. He’s worried the final score will be different if they protect the football.

Grant’s second pick is the San Francisco 49ers -7 against the Los Angeles Rams. Kyle Shanahan has covered the spread in seven straight outings against Sean McVay, and the Niners looked like arguably the best team in the league in Week 1. The Rams defied expectations but will regress to the mean eventually.

Tanner likes the play because of the dominance the Niners showed in Week 1 when they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road 30-7.

Tanner’s final pick is the New York Giants -4.5 against the Cardinals. Even though the line is strangely shifting back in the Cardinals' favor, he does not see any way in which Arizona is better than NY, even if the latter was obliterated by the Dallas Cowboys.

Grant is out on the Giants overall but likes them to get a huge win against the Cardinals. Bad teams play their best football in Week 1, and the Cardinals are about to start a free-fall.

Grant’s final play is Lamar Jackson over 45.5 rushing yards against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens are down several key players, including running back J.K. Dobbins, and the pressure will be on Lamar—who averaged 81 yards on the ground in his last three meetings with the Bengals—to deliver.

Tanner also likes the play as he expects the Bengals’ defensive line to spend the afternoon chasing Jackson out of the backfield.

Check back next Monday for a new episode of Ride the Line with even more NFL betting picks!
