This week on Wise Kracks, we speak to sports betting Hall of Famer Vic Salerno about how he revolutionized online sports betting, plus Bill and Jon dig into recent trending stories like Drake’s viral high-stakes online roulette video, recent celebrity sightings at the UFC and what’s hot in sports betting this week.

How Vic Salerno Changed Sports Betting

Vic Salerno, President USBookmaking, came on the show to talk about how he revolutionized online sports betting. He is in the sports betting Hall of Fame and he’s the President of USBookmaking, a company that provides betting technology for sportsbooks.

Salerno has enjoyed over 40 years in the sports betting business, during which time he served as Chairman of American Wagering, Inc. which operated over 130 Leroy’s sportsbooks. He led the launch of mobile sports betting starting with the Leroy’s app until the company was sold to William Hill in 2012.

Before modern technology, sportsbooks took bets by hand, manually, and relied heavily on the expertise and trustworthiness of cashiers. A big part of what Vic is famous for is advancing the technology that not only streamlined the process for sportsbooks but led to a much safer and more honest service for customers.

Watch the episode for a deep dive with one of the most knowledgeable and experienced sports betting minds on the planet.

Jared Leto Studying for UFC Movie?

It’s no secret Jon Orlando loves the UFC and he was at the recent event when Jared Leto’s outfit sparked instant meme madness.

What those stories didn’t say is that Leto’s been attending tons of UFC fights. Jon’s seen him there three times in barely more than a month.

In this week’s episode, John makes a bold prediction: Jared Leto is preparing to play an MMA fighter in a film. Leto has actually been at almost every single UFC event for the past year and it’s widely reported how he immerses himself in the characters and stories he depicts on screen.

Drake “Could Go Broke” Betting Like That

Another recent betting-celebrity crossover was Drake’s high-stakes viral roulette video. Drake posted a clip of himself playing online live dealer roulette and betting what looked to be $200,000.

It was also reported that Drake had a massive bet betting on Odell Beckham Jr. to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Drake put down half a million dollars on OBJ and pocketed $575,000 in profit when the bet won.

It appears Drake has been bitten by the gambling bug and we’re excited to see what kind of action he’s into next.

Bill also tweeted out a picture of Drake casually betting $100,000 a spin on live roulette in the casino.

“This guy bets like this, he can go broke,” remarked Bill.

Drake betting 100k a spin on Roulette. Single zero at least, but still a 2.63% house advantage. @Drake that casino has very good double deck BJ that is less then .5% house edge with basic strategy card from the gift shop. I guess it’s all relative in the short term. ??? pic.twitter.com/FxHvd3DTjD
