North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper signed online sports betting into law in June 2023 and set a deadline of roughly one year to get the market up and running. With those special events on the horizon, FanDuel is giving $300 in bonus bets to all customers who pre-register and bet at least $5 once betting goes live at noon on Monday. Users in other states also have the opportunity to win $150 in bonus bets.

Bonus bets are credits that can be used to place bets in any available markets (aside from round robins) at FanDuel. While they can be used as stakes for bets, they cannot be withdrawn for cash or transferred to another sportsbook and will expire if unused after seven days.

All prospective customers must be 21 or older and may not already have a FanDuel account. They also must be inside the North Carolina border to redeem the full $300 bonus.

The teams enter on a combined eight-game win streak (five for UNC, three for Duke) and are expected to be among the top seeds in March Madness. UNC won the earlier matchup between the two on the road 93-84 thanks to a 25-point double-double by Armando Bacot.
