The Red Sox and Rockies posted a combined 13 runs in Game 2 of this series. Both offenses had the bats cooking, and we expect this to be the case once again on Wednesday night. Austin Gomber will throw for the Rockies, and he hasn’t been that good. Gomber is 4-5 with a 7.57 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP. He has been on the mound enough innings to say that 2023 isn’t his season. Garrett Whitlock is 3-2 with a 4.78 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. He hasn’t looked comfortable as a starting pitcher this season and continuously misses spots up in the zone.
The Red Sox have the better offense, but both are good enough to get to their opposing pitcher in the first inning. Considering the offensive explosion we saw from these two teams yesterday, -118 for the YRFI is a very fair price. The NRFI did hit in yesterday’s game, but it’s hard to trust Gomber against Boston.

On Tuesday, the Yankees took Game 1 of the Subway Series against the Mets. They were able to rattle Max Scherzer, and the bats came through consistently during the game. We don’t believe this will be the case in the second game of the series when Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander take the bump. Cole is the ace of New York’s staff, and has looked sensational all season, outside of facing Rafel Devers. Verlander hasn’t been great, and inconsistency is a concern for a NRFI, but he should be fired up to pitch in this spot. When he is on, he is still one of the best pitchers in the game.
Cole is 7-1 with a 2.84 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Over 85.2 innings, he has 90 strikeouts with just 69 hits allowed. Verlander is 2-3 with a 4.85 and a 1.33 WHIP. He has allowed seven homers in 39 innings, but we’re going to trust him in the first inning today. The Yankees are less powerful without Aaron Judge, and this should help the pitcher succeed at the top of the first.

There were no runs scored in the first four innings of Game 1 in this series between the Nationals and Astros. Houston ended up winning 6-1, and they’ve posted crooked numbers all season, but their offense has been relatively inconsistent. Josiah Gray will throw for the Nationals and is the best pitcher in their rotation. The former top prospect in the Dodgers organization seems to be coming into his own on the mound. Gray has a 3.00 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP. Over 72 innings, he has allowed 64 hits. The biggest issue for Gray has been his 37 walks over this span, but when he locates, he is very hard to hit.
Framber Valdez will pitch for the Astros and has been sensational this season. The pitcher has a 2.36 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP. Over 84 innings, he has allowed just 69 hits and six homers. He also has 89 strikeouts over this span. The combination of these two pitchers makes the NRFI a must-bet wager on Tuesday.
