Best MLB Home Run Predictions Today: Ohtani and Soto Highlight Monday’s Home Run Targets
Monday has a full MLB with 14 games on the docket. Unfortunately, some of the starting pitchers who have been victimized by the long ball this year aren’t on the mound. That means we had to look at hitters in the middle of a hot streak or those with a strong track record against the pitcher they’ll face to find our targets. In any event, we came up with a good group that has excellent value.

Home Run Picks for Monday, May 18
There are some fantastic home run props out there today, but some stand above the rest. Below are the three players we’re locked in on.
Shohei Ohtani Anytime Home Run (+310) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Last week, we correctly predicted when Ohtani’s home run drought would end. While the home run he hit last Tuesday is still his most recent home run, Ohtani has been red-hot since then. Over his last four games, Ohtani is 8 for 17 with four extra-base hits and is fresh off a three-hit game on Sunday. When he’s that hot, a home run feels inevitable.
On paper, Ohtani and the Dodgers have a tough matchup on Monday against Michael King, who is rocking a 2.63 ERA and has only given up four home runs all season. However, Ohtani has caused him huge problems throughout his career. Ohtani is 7 for 17 with three home runs against King, and given how hot he is right now, that success is likely to continue on Monday.

Juan Soto Anytime Home Run (+250) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Soto is in the midst of a hot streak right now, and so is his team. The Mets have won five of their last six games, with Soto going 8 for 23 with two home runs during that stretch. He carries that hot streak back to his old stomping grounds in Washington on Monday against Jake Irvin, who is notorious for giving up a lot of home runs.
Irvin gave up 38 home runs last season, and while he’s only allowed six this year, his 5.91 ERA suggests more long balls are on the way. Meanwhile, Soto is 3 for 9 with a double and a home run in his career against Irvin. This is a favorable matchup for him, and with the way he’s swung the bat lately, Soto is a good home run target.

William Contreras Anytime Home Run (+410) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Shoto Imanaga has been excellent this season, posting a 2.32 ERA. However, the lefty has troublesome numbers against several members of the Brewers, the team he faces on Monday. The Milwaukee player with the best numbers against Imanaga is Contreras, which is why we’re targeting him to hit a home run.
Admittedly, Contreras only has three home runs this year, and his last one came on April 30. But his history against Imanaga is too much to ignore. Contreras is 5 for 12 with three home runs against Imanaga. While not an obvious target, that track record is enough to take a flier on Contreras.

Casey Schmitt Anytime Home Run (+470) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Schmitt remains an under-the-radar target for home run props despite leading the Giants with eight long balls this year. Obviously, that’s not a huge total, but Schmitt is also a player who’s trending upward right now. He had two home runs on Saturday and is 6 for 10 over his last two games, so now is the time to strike while the iron is hot.
On Monday, Schmitt and the Giants face Zac Gallen in Arizona. In a small sample size, Schmitt is 4 for 7 with a home run against Gallen, which is no small feat. Gallen also has an 8.79 ERA in May and has allowed four home runs over his last 10.2 innings, so he’s vulnerable right now, and Schmitt is the best candidate to take advantage of that.
