New York City FC vs. Charlotte FC Prediction: NYCFC Seeks First-Ever Win Against the Crowns

Saturday evening Yankee Stadium will be the site where New York City FC plays host to Charlotte FC. The Crowns in the head-to-head department boast a dominant record against their competitors in this affair, winning on four occasions and sharing the points once. These two sides have already previously met in the 2024 MLS campaign, which saw Charlotte walk away with the clean sheet victory at home on the opening weekend of the MLS season.

New York City FC is coming off a solid victory over DC United last weekend, winning 2-0 at home. With the win, it extended NYCFC's unbeaten run to four straight matches. Saturday's clash will be the fourth match in a row the Pigeons will get to perform in front of the home faithful.

Meanwhile, for Charlotte, they’re coming off a displeasing performance at home suffering a 3-0 defeat to Minnesota United. The setback on Sunday extended the Crown's poor form of late only capturing one win in their last four. It was the third time in nine matches played that CLTFC was blanked on the scoresheet.

Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favourite picks for New York City FC vs. Charlotte FC.

New York City FC vs. Charlotte FC Betting Predictions

New York City FC Preview

Nicholas Cushing's men are slowly finding their groove and grabbing results. Thanks to their run of home matches, the club has climbed up the Eastern Conference table. After failing to register a goal in their opening two matches of the campaign, the Pigeons have found the back of the net in six of their last seven affairs.

Leading the way in the goals department for NYCFC is Santiago Rodriguez. The attacking midfielder has notched four goals and added an assist to his account through nine matches played. Last weekend's battle saw him put in a man-of-the-match staging, grabbing a goal and an assist, amassing five shots toward the target and finishing off a passing completion rate of 88 percent going 36-for-41.

Charlotte FC Preview

Dean Smiths’s men were humbled last weekend and that defeat snapped the Crown's home unbeaten run at 13 games. Charlotte didn’t look ready from the opening whistle and they got punished for not coming prepared. Missed opportunities were the theme last Sunday and this is a trend that can’t continue, hard to be successful in MLS when you’re averaging a goal a game.

The biggest disappointment on the attack for Charlotte is Enzo Copetti. Another week, another scoreless weekend for the 28-year-old as he has failed to get on the scorer’s sheet in 2024. In the 3-0 defeat to Minnesota, Copetti played 61 minutes, had zero shots taken and only made 67 percent of his passes going 10-for-15.

New York City FC vs. Charlotte FC - My Pick

Considering the current form NYCFC is in, taking them on the money line is hard to go against, especially at the listed number. The home side are only averaging 0.8 goals against at home. The Pigeons are unbeaten in their last four matches and should extend it to five.

On the other hand, Charlotte FC, this is a side that struggles to snatch results in their away contests. Only averaging 0.5 goals scored per match on the road won’t quite cut it versus a solid team like NYCFC. Both clubs are equal with 11 pints a piece, but it’s not a cause for concern as this is a bad situational spot for the Crowns to distrup NYCFC's rigid play at Yankee Stadium.
