Best NBA Prop Bets Today January 12

Nikola Jokic Under 25.5 Points (-113) at FanDuel

Jokic has this weird thing where he refuses to shoot the ball against inferior opponents but lets it fly against winning teams. He’s found great success against the Pelicans recently, going over this total in seven of nine games since the start of the 2021-22 season and averaging 31.4 points during that stretch.

The Pelicans don’t have many weaknesses, but their defense at the center position could be better. Jonas Valanciunas allows the highest percentage of made field goals amongst all regular starting centers (54.9%), which should give Jokic a matchup advantage. The Joker is also shooting 77.8% from the field this month and is fresh off a 27-point night in only 30 minutes.

Paolo Banchero Over 27.5 Points (-111) at FanDuel

Banchero only managed 18 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves’ excellent defense on Tuesday but has been outstanding otherwise. He averaged 30.1 points over the nine games prior and should be at full strength after two days of rest.

The Orlando Magic are taking on the Miami Heat, who allow the second-highest two-point field goal percentage. That combined with the Heat missing an assortment of wings and possible defenders for Banchero leads us to believe that he’s in for a strong night against his in-state foe.

Klay Thompson Over 3.5 Threes (+104) at FanDuel

It’s easy to bag on Klay with the season he’s having. However, he cleared this total in eight of his last 14 games, including two of his last four, and was on his way to making 4+ threes in his last game but was benched early because the team was being blown out.

The Golden State Warriors are facing a Chicago Bulls team that plays slow but is just about average in three-point defense. Klay is also shooting 41.1% from long range on the road compared to just 36.7% at home, and the slower tempo will likely affect Steph Curry (the ball-handler) more than him.

Victor Wembanyama 12+ Rebounds (+190) at FanDuel

Our Wemby PRA bet on Wednesday was wildly successful as he recorded his first career triple-double. We’re looking at the San Antonio Spurs’ budding superstar again, but this time for his rebounding total, against a Charlotte Hornets squad that is 27th in rebound rate.

Wemby’s declining minutes average is a situation to monitor, but he brought down 12 boards in his last game and is capable of dominating Nick Richards and whoever spells him off the bench. The Hornets also rank 25th in field goal percentage, which should mean more rebounding opportunities for Wemby.

Anfernee Simons Over 24.5 Points (-106) at FanDuel

Professional athletes don’t enjoy being embarrassed, so although the Portland Trail Blazers lost by an unbelievable 62 points last night, there’s a strong chance they look much more formidable on Friday.

Simons is the best player on the Blazers and averaged 28 points per game in December. He had a tough start to the new year shooting the ball but exploded for 38 points against the Brooklyn Nets last Sunday and can get hot from long range. The Minnesota Timberwolves have the best defense in the league but should play him straight up, and the motivation of last night’s loss should be enough to spur him to go over his total.
