Moneyline: Boston Celtics (-260) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Boston Celtics enter Game 5 of the NBA Finals as the favorite to win the match, along with the 2023-24 NBA Championship. Despite their dismal performance in Game 4, the Celtics will benefit from home court advantage. The Celtics had been dominant throughout the series before Game 4, so they’re expected to tighten the screws and set the tone from tip.

Through the 2023-24 regular and postseason, the Boston Celtics posted a 79-21-0 win-loss record, ranking them first in the NBA. They own a 79.0% win percentage, a 10.7 margin of victory, and a +1.9 ATS +/-. Before their Game 4 loss on Friday, the Celtics had won ten straight games.

Luka Doncic (thoracic contusion) remains day-to-day ahead of Game 5 despite playing in all four games of the series so far. Kristaps Porzingis (Lower Leg) is listed as questionable for the Celtics after missing Game 4 due to injury.

Luka Doncic Under 32.5 Points (-104) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Despite his inefficiency, Luka Doncic has been carrying the Dallas Mavericks through the 2023-24 NBA Playoffs. Game 4 saw Doncic finally receive the support needed from his teammates to help them challenge the Celtics. With one win under their belt, Doncic will continue to be the focus of Dallas’ offense as they try to force a Game 6.

Through four games in the NBA Finals, Luka Doncic is averaging 29.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 2.3 threes per game on 47.0% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range. In Dallas’ Game 4 victory, Doncic posted 29 points, five rebounds, and three assists while shooting 46.2% from the field despite failing to convert on his eight three-point attempts.

Doncic is a -104 to score under 32.5 points when he faces the Celtics in Game 5. He has scored under 29.5 points in back-to-back games and 11 of his 21 games this postseason. Dallas has no room for error, so to keep their season alive, Doncic will remain central to Dallas’ efforts.

Jayson Tatum Under 27.5 Points (-130) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Jayson Tatum will be in the spotlight when the Boston Celtics host the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. After his Game 3 performance, many thought he was back on track. However, a mediocre Game 4 from the Celtics has cast doubt over the Celtics’ immediate ability to put away the Mavericks.

In his four NBA Finals appearances this year, Tatum has averaged 20.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.3 threes per game on 36.5% from the field and 29.0% from three-point range. In Boston’s 38-point Game 4 loss, Tatum contributed 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one three on 40.0% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range.

Tatum is a -130 to score under 27.5 points in Game 5 against the Mavericks. He scored under 27.5 points in three of his four NBA Finals appearances and 12 of his 18 games in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. TD Garden will work in Tatum’s favor. But between his form and the slower pace, Tatum is expected to be kept in check offensively.
