Boston College vs. North Carolina State: Eagles Look to Add to the Wolfpacks' Woes

Tonight’s Boston College Eagles vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack matchup features two teams battling for better seeds in the ACC Tournament. Cold streaks have both teams desperate to win as they hope to salvage a chance at an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Eagles started the season strong by going 9-3, but things have fallen off since then. BC has gone 6-8 since then, with five wins coming against teams in the bottom four of the ACC standings. On Tuesday, they were beaten 84-76 on the road against Florida State.

Every time we think the Wolfpack are finally clicking, they drop a mind-boggling loss. That was the case again this week when NC State followed up a massive road win against Clemson by losing at home against a mediocre Syracuse team. The loss is their sixth over their previous nine-game, two of which came against the Orange.

Below, we will share the latest odds and insights into today’s matchup, predictions, and our favorite bet for the game.

BetMGM has the Wolfpack as the favorite at home for this afternoon’s game.

Boston College has not fared well on the road, going 2-5 when entering as an underdog. That matches their performance against the spread as a road underdog, covering just two of the seven games.

Boston College is coming off of an 84-76 road loss to Florida State on Tuesday. It was their third loss over their previous five games. The loss means the Eagles do not have a win over any of the teams currently in the top eight of the ACC standings. NC State is currently in seventh.

NC State is 11-6 at home this season and 11-4 when they are a home favorite. The Wolfpack have not impressed as a home favorite against the spread this season, going 7-7.

The Wolfpack are coming off an awful home loss to Syracuse, which wiped out the momentum gained from their road win against Clemson the game before. It continues a troubling downward trend, with the team losing six of their previous nine games.

Boston College vs. NC State Prediction & Betting Pick

NC State has not been very reliable this season, but they are an impressive 11-4 against the spread when entering as a home favorite. The Wolfpack have some impressive wins, but they also drop ugly games like they did on Tuesday. The fact that NC State’s NCAA Tournament hopes are dwindling is not lost on this team, and we think it leads to a statement game today.

Aside from the Wolfpack’s motivation, they also match up well against BC. Their offense is predicated on DJ Horne and his ability to hit threes, something that BC struggles with. The Eagles are allowing opponents to make 35.7% of three-point attempts, the second-worst mark in the ACC.

As we shared in the section above, BC has had some major issues on the road this season. They are 2-5 on the road during ACC play, with their lone wins coming against Notre Dame and Georgia Tech. Their losses were ugly, losing all five games by more than 5.5 points.

The Wolfpack are a scary team to bet on, but the table is set for them to add a critical win today.
