With over 1,000 games under their belts, the Washington Commanders have been playing in the NFL since 1932. During that time the Commanders have grown into one of the most successful teams in the league.
The Commanders have won three Super Bowls and in 2023 Forbes estimated the team’s value at $6.05 billion which makes it the eighth most valuable franchise in the NFL.
In this team guide, we’ll examine every aspect of the Commanders to help you not only learn about the franchise but hopefully make a few more winning bets on them this season, too.

1 year ago | Mike LukasThe Washington Commanders organization played its first game in 1932 as the Boston Braves but that moniker didn’t last long. The team changed its name to the Redskins just one year later and moved from Boston to the Washington DC area in 1937. And they are known as the Washington Commanders as a hopefully last name change since 2022.
During their many decades in the NFL, the Commanders have won three Super Bowls, five conference championships, 14 division titles, and made 24 playoff appearances. The Commanders golden age was during the 1980s. The team won two Super Bowls in that decade and made the playoffs five times.
Right now the Commanders’ biggest rivals include the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles. The most notable names in franchise history include Joe Theismann, Sammy Baugh, John Riggins, and Sean Taylor.
