There are only two games on slate today, so I do not have many prop bet options. Our first prop involves the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Colorado Avalanche. We will look at Penguins’ defenseman Kris Letang for this bet. Letang has had some medical issues this season and missed a little bit of time but has been very good when healthy. He may be 35 years old, but he is still playing like a top defenseman. Letang only has ten goals this season but is not shy when it comes to shooting. He will put plenty of shots on net today, so I would recommend betting on the over.

Letang is scoring on less than 8% of his shots, but that does not stop him from shooting. He is averaging 2.42 shots per game this season and has been even more confident lately. The veteran is coming off a five-shot game against the Ottawa Senators and a three-shot game against the New York Rangers. However, Letang’s increased shot output did not begin two games ago. He is averaging 3.1 shots per game this month and has only had two shots or less in three March games. I expect another strong shooting night from Letang. Bet on the over.

Arizona Coyotes vs Edmonton Oilers

Our second prop bet takes us to Edmonton, Alberta, for a game between the Arizona Coyotes and the Edmonton Oilers. This is the second (and final) game of the day. This prop involved the Coyotes’ Barrett Hayton. Hayton is a young player but may be on the Coyotes for years to come. He is only 22 years old but is one of the better centers on this Arizona team. He will perform well today and finish with at least one point. Bet on the over.

Hayton comes into this game with 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists). That may not be too convincing of a statistic, so I will add this. Hayton is having an excellent month of March and is on an eight-game point streak. The last time he failed to score a point was on March 5. For whatever reason, Hayton is in a groove.

Hayton will be facing a defensively challenged Edmonton Oilers team today. The Oilers win games, but they give up a lot of goals on the way. Edmonton gives up 3.31 goals per game, so Hayton will have plenty of opportunities to get a point. Bet on the over.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Colorado Avalanche

Mikko Rantanen O 3.5 Shots on Goal -105 (DraftKings)

We will return to Denver for our third prop bet (this will not be the final time we will return to Denver). This bet involves the Avalanche’s Mikko Rantanen. I cannot say enough good things about Mikko Rantanen. He finished with 92 points last season and is on pace to finish with more this year. Rantanen is only 26 years old but is already one of the most dangerous players in hockey. He scores at an incredibly efficient level and can also set up his teammates with scoring opportunities. I could talk all day about Rantanen, but I will not. However, I will say that he will finish this game with at least four shots. Bet on the over.

Rantanen is averaging 3.65 shots per game. That is quite impressive, but his previous five games have been even better. The winger is averaging 4.2 shots per game over that stretch.

Rantanen is facing a Penguins team that allows 33.2 shots per game. That is unfortunate for Pittsburgh but quite fortunate for Rantanen. I expect him to take advantage of the Penguins’ weak defense and fire off a bunch of shots. Bet on the over.

Arizona Coyotes vs Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid O 0.5 Goals -148 (FanDuel)

Our fourth bet of the day is a safe one. This bet returns us to Edmonton and involves the Oilers’ Connor McDavid. McDavid is having a tremendous season and will likely win the Hart Trophy. He leads the league in points, goals, and assists, so a Hart Trophy is not all that unlikely. McDavid’s goal-scoring ability is second to none in this league, and he will score today. Bet on the over.

McDavid comes into this game with 58 goals and 78 assists. His 58 goals are the most in the NHL, and the next closest player, David Pastrnak, is not even close with 48. He failed to score a goal in his previous game against the San Jose Sharks but scored one in his four games before that. However, that is not the sole reason he will score today. The larger reason is he is facing the Coyotes. The Coyotes give up 3.44 goals per game, and McDavid scored twice against the them the last time he saw them. He will not have no problem scoring at least once this game. Bet on the over.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Colorado Avalanche

Jake Guentzel U 0.5 Goals -158 (FanDuel)

Our final prop bet is the safest one of the day, and the only under. This prop involves Penguins’ star Jake Guentzel. Guentzel is a great player but will not finish with a goal today. Bet on the under

Guentzel comes into this game with 30 goals and 32 assists. Those numbers are great, but he he has not scored in his previous two games. He has not gotten an assist either. This is not entirely his fault.

The Penguins only scored one goal in those two matchups, so he did not have too many opportunities. I believe the same thing will happen today. The Penguins are facing a surging Avalanche squad and will score two goals in a loss. There is not enough opportunities for Guentzel to put a puck in the back of the net, if the Penguins only score twice. Bet on the under.
