A new episode of Ride the Line with Grant Mitchell and Tanner Kern is now live on all WSN platforms!

Week 5 NFL Betting Picks

Unfortunately, Grant is a healthy scratch for Friday’s episode because he is on the road. Tanner held down the fort in his absence and is hoping to continue what has been a highly profitable week for the show.

Tanner’s first pick of the day is the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots under 39.5 points. The two teams rank 25th and 30th in scoring and are dealing with turmoil at the quarterback position, New England in potentially benching Mac Jones for the second straight week, and New Orleans in dealing with an injured and declining Derek Carr.

Both teams also have relatively strong defenses and are coming off of losses, which should lead to this being a low-scoring matchup.

Tanner also likes the New York Jets moneyline against the Denver Broncos. Denver got its first win of the season against the Chicago Bears last weekend, but the Jets had their second strong performance against a Super Bowl contender in four weeks and command more of Tanner’s respect.

Zach Wilson and Russell Wilson are both far from elite QBs, but the Jets’ skill position guys plus their defense are both advantages. Keep an eye on the Jets to get an upset in the mountains.

Tanner’s final pick is the San Francisco 49ers -3.5 against the Dallas Cowboys in what is, up to this point, the game of the season and a potential NFC Championship Game preview.

The Niners and Cowboys have the second and third-best scoring margins respectively. Dallas leads the league with just over 10 points allowed per game, while San Fran is third in both scoring offense and defense. The Niners eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs last year 19-12, and Tanner thinks their balance and overall talent will help them finish on top once again.

Grant’s favorite picks of the weekend (from afar) include the Jacksonville Jaguars +5.5 against the Buffalo Bills, the Jets’ moneyline, and the Kansas City Chiefs -3.5 against the Minnesota Vikings.
