This week on Wise Kracks we’ve got an Olympic gold medalist who tells the story of not only winning his medal, but how it was stolen from his car while was partying in the club.

Also on the show is a deep dive on college football bowl betting, an NFL betting update, reactions to last weekend’s UFC event and predictions for the massive upcoming Paul-Woodley boxing card.

Robert Esmie and The Case of the Stolen Gold Medal

Our guest today is Robert Esmie, a retired professional sprinter. Esmie is a member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and he ran as part of the Canadian gold medal 4×100 relay team at the 1996 Atlanta games.

Over the course of his career, he’s teamed up with sprinting legends like Donovan Bailey and he has some amazing tales to tell about how things really went down behind the scenes.

It’s a fascinating look into the politics of pro-running, as well as a wake-up call that the most interesting things happening at the Olympics aren’t always the things that make headlines.

Esmie is also an amazingly positive and charming individual so we highly recommend watching the episode for the full interview.

Betting Tips for College Football Bowl Season

Bowls have definitely changed in the recent past, with more star players opting out to avoid injury before the NFL Draft. Similarly, coach movement can play a factor with many teams playing for an interim coach where a change has been made since the season finale.

In today’s episode, Krack dives into strategy and tips for betting NCAAF bowl games such as the Cure Bowl game.

Here’s a tip from Krack himself:

“Traditionally, I would get down on these games as early as possible in order to find the best possible advantage. Recently, however, I have held off, sometimes until game day, in order to be certain of the team makeup. This makes information more important than ever. If we have information on lineup changes before the books adjust, that’s a huge advantage.

“I generally think “motivation” is overrated. But not in the bowls. Often you will find a matchup between teams that are thrilled to be there versus a team that is disappointed they didn’t make a bigger game. While this is eventually baked into the line, you can gain a big advantage by studying online to feel out a team’s state of mind going into the game.”

NFL Week 15 Betting Update

In the NFL the cream is definitely rising to the top as the season heads into the playoff push. The Packers, Bucs, Patriots and Chiefs are the four best teams … sound familiar?

The Rams, despite covid costing them many key players, went into Arizona and beat the Cardinals. The Bucs continued the slide of the Bills and the Chiefs blew out the stumbling Raiders. Now is the time to lock in those futures! Check the best lines on any playoff or even the Super Bowl here before its too late!

Will the Bills and Ravens make the playoffs? Everyone is essentially still alive unless you are the Lions, Jags or the Texans. With one extra playoff spot, the scene won’t be set until the clock strikes zero on this weekend’s games.

Krack and Jon run through this week in football and talk tips and predictions for Week 15 NFL betting.

Could Nunes Win Rematch with Pena?

Another match that lit up the UFC fighting world this week was Amanda Nunes losing as a massive 10-1 favorite over Julianna Pena.

Pena ended the fight via submission and the bell had barely finished ringing before people started talking rematch. Krack is interested to hear Jon’s take on whether Pena stands a chance.

“I don’t think so, no,” said Jon. “Earlier that day, on Saturday, I actually picked Pena. I watched the YouTube show Embedded that the UFC puts on and I didn’t think Nunes took the fight seriously.

“I don’t mean that disrespectfully towards Pena,” continued Jon. “But with Pena at +650 or +700, I just thought you gotta take it and it ended up coming in. Of course, I had it in some parlays so I didn’t make any money (laughs). But I think Amanda will get it together and I think she wins the rematch.”
