The final game before the All-Star/Olympics break will feature the Indiana Fever taking on the Dallas Wings in Arlington, TX. It could be a chance for the Fever to enter the break on a three-game winning streak or give the Wings a shot at ending their current three-game losing streak.
Indiana has been showing signs that the team could be ready to turn a corner and become a team to be reckoned with. But to do so, the Fever not only has to beat the teams they should lose against, but they also need to win the games they should win.
Read on for the betting odds for tonight’s game, along with our preview and pick for the contest.
After a dreadful 1-8 start to the season, Indiana has certainly turned things around. While their record is still below .500, they are 3-2 in July and 10-6 since June 1. They have also become one of the better teams against the spread this season at 14-11, one of five with a winning record ATS.
As for the Wings, the struggle has been real this year. While they started the season on decent footing, winning three of their first five games, it’s been downhill since. Since their win over the Sparks in Los Angeles on May 26, they’ve gone 2-17.
Their luck has not been much better against the spread at 7-17.

The all-time series between these two teams is currently tied at 35 wins apiece. Indiana won the last regular season meeting between them, a 97-84 victory in overtime on Sept. 3. But the Wings have dominated the series of late, winning seven of the last ten.
In the last ten meetings, the OVER went 7-3.
If there were an award for the most improved team at this point in the season, the Fever would likely win. After starting the season at 2-8, the team appeared to be lining up for another chance to get the first pick in the draft.
Their offense production ranked 11th at just 78.3 ppg, better than only Washington. Teams could almost score on them at will, as they averaged 89.1 ppg allowed.
But then things started to click. The offense began to find some rhythm and started scoring some points. Since June 2, the team has averaged 83.3 ppg, good for fifth best in the league. While there is room for growth, the defense has allowed 85.1 ppg (ninth best).
The big difference has been a change in the offense's focus. At first, the team pushed Caitlin Clark's involvement to the detriment of getting others involved. Hence, once Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell got more involved, forcing defenses to not focus entirely on Clark, the offense improved.
However, while they have found a style of play that works for them, if teams can force them to deviate from their plan, the Fever have had a hard time adjusting.

While they have lost three in a row, the Wings may be playing the right kind of basketball to defeat Indiana. While the Fever has improved in just about every facet of the game since the start of the season, one issue remains—their defense gives up a lot of points.
If you can outscore them, you can beat them.
Dallas enters tonight's game, scoring 80+ points in their last five games (86.2 ppg, third best). Indiana is pretty close at 82.4 ppg. To that end, the Wings will need to get Arike Ogunbowale, the team's leading scorer with 22.2 ppg, on track early on.
Odyssey Sims has been a solid addition to the offense once she joined the roster, averaging 16.4 ppg; she scored 23, 19, and 25 in her last three games. Natasha Howard averages 16.6 ppg, but the team could really use an outing like she had against Phoenix a couple of weeks ago (36 points, 11 rebounds).

My Pick: OVER 173.5 (-110) at FanDuel
This is a game the Fever should win, but if they have a hard time getting on track and staying on track (as they often do), they could lose it. It could also turn into a more competitive game than expected.
However, neither team plays great defense. With how well both offenses have functioned of late, this could easily turn into a high-scoring game.
