The Los Angeles Sparks will try to end their two-game losing streak when they host the Minnesota Lynx Wednesday at home in the crypto.com Arena. It has been a challenging season for the Sparks, which have gotten off to a 2-6 start. On the other hand, the Lynx is 6-2 and looks more and more like a championship contender with every game.
Minnesota opened as a 7.5-point road favorite. However, the Sparks are not a team the Lynx can afford to take lightly. If they do, they risk being on the wrong side of one of the most unexpected upsets of the season.
Let's look at the betting odds for the Lynx vs. Sparks, along with our preview and pick for the game. For more WNBA betting insight, check out our Daily WNBA Player Props and Best Bets.
Those who bet on the Lynx to win the 2024 WNBA Championship prior to the start of the season are glad they did. Back then, their odds were among the bottom of the league at +5000. Only two teams had longer odds, the Sparks at +7500 and the Mystics at +10000.
But after getting off to a 6-2 start (7-1 ATS), their odds have jumped to the top half of oddsboards at around +2000. However, they are just 1-2 against the top three teams on most boards (Aces, Liberty, and Sun).
Los Angeles didn't have championship aspirations entering the 2024 WNBA season, but fans would love to see their team improve. At 2-6, compared to last season's 4-4 start, they are headed in the wrong direction.

If the Minnesota Lynx have proven anything with almost a quarter of the season in the books, it is this: They have come to play. A lesser team would have let the crushing defeat vs. the Las Vegas Aces at home last week get them down, but not the Lynx.
Instead, they responded with home wins over the Phoenix Mercury and Dallas Wings. But now it’s time to go on the road and see if they can keep the good times rolling.
On paper, it does not look like they’ll face much of a challenge against the Sparks. Minnesota has the second-best offense in the WNBA (86.4 ppg), while the Sparks defense ranks 8th. The difference between the Lynx defense (3rd) and the Los Angeles offense (tenth, 77.3 ppg) is just as significant.
It’s not like the Sparks lack talent. Cameron Brink is having a solid rookie year and ranks third in the WNBA in blocks with 2.6 per game. Dearica Hamby is fifth in the league in scoring with 20.9 ppg and second in rebounds (11.6 per game).
If Minnesota brings its “A” game, it should be an easy win for the Lynx. But if they don’t, the Sparks have enough talent to steal a win.

It may be hard to get excited about a team with a 2-6 record, but with 30+ games left, the season is far from over. A win over one of the better teams in the league could be the spark the Sparks need to get on track. Of course, such a win will not come easily.
The team has played well but struggles to put a complete game together. Take out the dreadful second quarter the Sparks had against Las Vegas, and they beat the defending champs by four. Against Dallas, it was also the second quarter that cost them. But against Atlanta, it was the fourth.
Things appeared to turn for the worse in the win against Indiana. The Sparks dominated the first half 45-34 and should have run away with the game. Instead, they scored just 28 points in the second half and nearly let the win slip away.
A dreadful first half (49-31) kept them from being competitive against the Sky, as in their latest loss to the Mercury (39-22 at the halftime break).
If they come out and struggle in the first half against the Lynx, Minnesota will waste no time putting them away. Then maybe the Sparks can make a game of it against the Lynx reserves in the second half.
Bet on Los Angeles Sparks at FanDuel
Los Angeles has two excellent players in rookie Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby. But the Sparks need other players to step up and contribute, and no one is. Hamby nearly outscored the other four starters against Phoenix (23-27). Brink has yet to provide the same offensive punch she had at Stanford, but her defense has kept LA in games.
Minnesota is a more complete team in just about every way possible. It will take a meltdown on their end for the Sparks to have a shot in this game. They have the best ATS record in the league at 7-1, and it will only get better after this game.
