South Africa vs. Canada
South Africa takes on World Cup co-host Canada as the knockout stage begins with the round of 32.
Canada to Win the First Half (+120) at FanDuel
A tie against Switzerland on matchday three of the group stage would have been enough for Canada to win Group B. That, in turn, would have kept it on home soil for the start of the knockout stage. However, a 2-1 defeat bumped Jesse Marsch’s men down to second spot, which means the co-host will continue its World Cup journey in the USA today.
This is a first ever appearance in the knockout phase for Canada, and the same is true for South Africa. It needed to beat South Korea in its final group game, an outcome the best online sportsbooks did not envisage. But South Africa dug deep and pulled off a 1-0 win to finish as the Group A runner-up.
It made a slow start in its two previous matches, however, conceding the opening goal to Mexico after nine minutes and falling behind against Czechia with just six minutes on the clock. South Africa is not the quickest team out of the blocks, with both of its goals at this World Cup coming after the hour mark.
Canada will look to take advantage of its opponent’s primary shortcoming by taking the initiative from the first whistle. Marsch will encourage his team to pin South Africa back early on, and Bafana Bafana will struggle to hold out until half-time if Canada’s attacking play is as incisive as it was in the 6-0 thrashing of Qatar. Back Canada to win the first half at +120 with FanDuel.

Canada Over 1.5 Goals (-104) at FanDuel
The next in our list of daily World Cup team props is a prediction that Canada will score twice here. South Africa conceded two goals to Mexico in the opening game of the competition, but its defense did a better job in subsequent clashes with Czechia and South Korea, conceding just one goal across those two matches.
However, that was in large part down to South Africa’s opponents. Czechia is a very limited team going forward, and it focused on protecting its lead after going 1-0 up. South Korea played for a tie on matchday three, a risky strategy which meant South Africa’s backline was not put under much pressure until the final 20 minutes.
Bafana Bafana will have much more to deal with today. First off, Canada lines up with two strikers in Jonathan David and Cyle Larin, so its central defenders Ime Okon and Mbekezeli Mbokazi will have their hands full. The Reds will also have some joy pressing high up the pitch, with South Africa having struggled to play out in the 2-0 loss to Mexico.
If Canada scores the first goal of the match, South Africa will have to take a few risks in pursuit of an equalizer. That would leave Canada with more space to break into on the counter-attack. Tip Canada to score over 1.5 goals at -104 with FanDuel.

Jonathan David to Score Any Time (+165) at FanDuel
We round off today’s choices with a pick from the array of soccer player props offered by the sportsbooks. Anytime goalscorer is one of the most popular markets for individual players, and it is one which offers excellent value for today’s round of 32 game between South Africa and Canada.
Jonathan David has had a mixed World Cup to date. He was relatively quiet in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina on matchday one, but David scored twice against Qatar as Canada registered a 6-0 victory, its first ever win at the World Cup. He did not find the back of the net against Switzerland last time out, but David will pose a real threat to the South Africa defense in today’s tussle at the SoFi Stadium.
David had a tough club campaign at Juventus, scoring only six goals in 35 Serie A appearances. But the fact he was not a guaranteed starter for the Italian outfit in 2025/26 means he is fresh for the tournament. And although form is temporary, class is permanent. David remains the best finisher in the Canada roster.
Given the aforementioned frailties of the South Africa backline, David will be a thorn in the side of Bafana Bafana. Choose him as an anytime goalscorer today at +165 with FanDuel.
