North Carolina legalized online sports betting in June 2023 and gave itself a year to launch the market. Although it missed out on the Super Bowl, its March 11 launch date coincides with the first round of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament and is just one week before March Madness.
To celebrate, FanDuel is offering all new users the chance to claim a bonus even greater than the $150 amount that is offered in all other states in which the company operates. Here’s how to redeem the offer:
Click “Join Now” and enter your personal information when prompted
Place a bet of at least $5 once FanDuel betting goes live on March 11
Win a total of $300 in bonus bets
Bonus bets are like tokens that can be redeemed at FanDuel. These bets can be used as the stake for a wager in any valid FanDuel market but cannot be withdrawn for cash.
All users must be 21 or older and may not already have a FanDuel account to be eligible to redeem the pre-registration bonus.
Customers not in North Carolina are still eligible to win $150 in bonus bets. All that needs to happen is for the user to place and win a bet of at least $5.
There is no minimum odds requirement, meaning that the bettor can slap $5 on a -1000 favorite and still walk out with $150 in bonus bets if their bet wins.
All bonus bets won in North Carolina or any other state will expire after seven days and cannot be used on round robins.
FanDuel is available in all of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, IL, TN, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, PA, VA, VT, WV, and WY.
There are a couple of premier NBA matchups on Thursday for bettors to tune into.
The first pits the Dallas Mavericks against the Miami Heat in a cross-conference showdown. Dallas took off after the trade deadline but fell on hard times recently despite the best efforts of Luka Doncic, who posted 35-point triple-doubles in three straight losses.
Meanwhile, Miami won seven of its last eight games and climbed all the way up to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. They have a habit of upping their game around this time of the year and are holding true to that thus far.
The second premier game is a showdown between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets, the two championship favorites. Boston won 11 straight games until they endured a spectacular collapse against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, a game in which they blew a 22-point fourth-quarter lead and were outscored by Dean Wade 20-17 during the final period.
The Nuggets have a better net rating than they did last season, which they finished with an NBA Finals triumph, and are just a game out of first place in the Western Conference. They also lost their last game in overtime against the Phoenix Suns but were the first team to beat the C’s in Boston, ending what was, at the time, a 20-game unbeaten streak.
