Picking home run targets isn’t just about the hitters themselves; the opposing pitchers are also a key factor. For Wednesday, the two pitchers who have allowed the most home runs in 2026 are both scheduled to take the mound. That became the foundation for the targets we chose for Wednesday.

Muncy and the Dodgers are set to face Tyler Mahle, who is rocking a 7.23 ERA after four starts and has allowed six home runs, the second most in baseball. In his last start, Mahle gave up four home runs, so his confidence has to be low. That makes this a bad time to face Muncy and the Los Angeles lineup.
In his career, Muncy is 5 for 16 (.313) with a double against Mahle, so this looks like a good matchup for him. Muncy has also been one of the best power hitters in the league, already mashing eight home runs this season. With Muncy being 7 for 12 with two home runs over his last three games, he’s in a nice groove and should be poised to take advantage of Mahle’s recent struggles.

The Braves have the benefit of facing Washington’s Zack Littell on Wednesday. Littell has allowed a league-high seven home runs on the young season, which helps explain his 7.11 ERA. In three of his four starts, Littell has allowed multiple home runs, so it makes sense to target at least one member of the Braves.
Riley, in particular, has a good history against Littell, going 3 for 7 with a double and a home run. On the season, Riley is yet to get going, only hitting three home runs, while batting .231. But he’s shown some signs of life over the last week, and a matchup against Littell should put him in a position to make a big splash.

Littell has been so prone to home runs that we’re going to double-up on members of the Braves. Smith has incredible value at +760 because he’s not an obvious candidate. But if you want to take a chance on someone, he’s an excellent target.
Smith is off to a hot start this season, batting .345 with four home runs. He’s also in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, so his confidence is high. More importantly, Smith possesses more power than the +760 odds might suggest, so against a pitcher like Littell, the value he has is too much to ignore.

Rodriguez is off to a slow start this season, batting just .237 with only one home run through the early part of the season. But keep in mind that he has multiple 30-homer seasons under his belt, so the power is bound to show up at some point. Rodriguez has also put together a six-game hitting streak, including back-to-back multi-hit games, so it looks like his bat is coming around.
On Wednesday, Rodriguez and the Mariners will face Aaron Civale of the Athletics. While Civale hasn’t given up a ton of home runs this season, he did get roughed up for five runs on 11 hits by the White Sox in his last start, so he’s trending in the wrong direction. Meanwhile, Rodriguez is 5 for 12 with a home run against Civale, making this a good matchup for the Seattle slugger.
