Best MLB Bets Today May 7

Today’s games give us plenty of chances to win on run line bets. Mismatches can be seen across the board, but three stand out above the rest. Below, we’ll share the ones we are locking in, along with why.

The odds we use for the below bets are taken from Caesars Sportsbook. If you’d like to sign up to give Caesars a try, use promo code WSNDYW to claim a “Bet $1, Get Ten 100% Profit Boost Tokens” offer.

Seattle Mariners vs. Athletics (3:35 PM EST)

Run LineSpreadMoneylineTotal
Mariners-1.5 (+105)-155Over 9 (-110)
Athletics+1.5 (-125)+130Under 9 (-110)

PICK: Mariners -1.5 (+105) at Caesars Sportsbook

Thanks to an A’s rookie taking the mound tonight, we are locking in this run line. Gunnar Hogland was fantastic in his first career start last week, but that came against the Marlins. Now he’ll be facing a Mariners lineup that has been one of the hottest in baseball, and the result will be far uglier.

Another reason we like this bet is Bryan Woo (4-1, 2.58 ERA, 0.83 WHIP), who will be starting for Seattle. The 25-year-old has posted four straight quality starts, delivering an impressive 2.05 ERA and going 3-1 during the stretch.

While we believe the Athletics will be competitive all season, they are set up for a lopsided loss tonight.

New York Mets vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (3:40 PM EST)

Run LineSpreadMoneylineTotal
Mets-1.5 (+122)-130Over 9 (+100)
Diamondbacks+1.5 (-145)+110Under 9 (-120)

PICK: Mets -1.5 (+122) at Caesars Sportsbook

Both of these teams have been mired in slumps, but New York will benefit from having one of the top pitchers in baseball on the mound.

After being limited to just one start last season, Kodai Senga (3-2, 1.38 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) has been pitching at an elite level. He has allowed just three runs over his previous five starts (27 2/3 innings). His last start came against the D-backs last week, where he allowed one run but only lasted four innings.

Senga will face D-backs starter Merrill Kelley (3-1, 4.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). The 36-year-old has been pitching well over his last five starts, but has only lasted for over 90 pitches once during that span.

Arizona’s bullpen continues to be a mess, with the back end being far from reliable. With Kelley unlikely to make it more than five or six innings at the most, the unit will be forced to work a few innings against a dangerous New York lineup.

Detroit Tigers vs. Colorado Rockies (8:40 PM EST)

Run LineSpreadMoneylineTotal
Tigers-1.5 (-110)-178Over 9.5 (+100)
Rockies+1.5 (-100)+150Under 9.5 (-120)

PICK: Tigers -1.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

The Rockies took over as the worst team in baseball from the White Sox in 2025. They have the league's worst record and OPS (.620) and the third-worst ERA (5.38). With Thairo Estrada, Ezequiel Tovar, and Kris Bryant all injured, this team isn’t going to be turning things around any time soon.

The struggling lineup will not be able to support rookie Chase Dollander (2-3, 6.48 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) on the mound tonight. The 23-year-old has flashed his potential but remains wildly unreliable. Considering that the Tigers are batting .305 over the last week, we expect the talented lineup to do some damage against the young righty tonight.

Detroit has an even younger rookie starting in Jackson Jobe (2-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). He has been better than Dollander across his five starts this season. He finished May 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA, and will improve on those numbers against a bad Rockies lineup.
