The Cardinals will go with Steven Matz, who has a 2.31 ERA in 2025, as he has been really solid. In 11.2 innings, he has fanned six batters. 

Ivan Herrera leads the Cardinals on offense, hitting .381 with four home runs to start the season. I expect him to come through in a big moment and carry St. Louis to a victory in this matchup.

Cubs vs. Padres (4:10 PM, EST)

Padres Moneyline (-125) at Caesars Sportsbook

The 11-8 Cubs take on the 14-3 Padres, who are the hottest baseball team right now. Matthew Boyd gets the start for Chicago against Nick Pivetta and the Padres. 

It’s hard to ignore San Diego's hot start, which is why I think they have an advantage in this spot. Fernando Tatis is mashing the baseball, and I don’t see him stopping anytime soon. 

Boyd is 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA in 2025, but will now be challenged. In 17 innings, Boyd has 17 strikeouts to go with seven walks. 

Pivetta is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA this season. He has fanned 18 batters in 17 innings while walking only four. 

If Pivetta keeps up his hot start, the Cubs will struggle in this matchup. I trust San Diego’s bats to get the job done.

Giants vs. Phillies (6:45 PM, EST)
