The Boston Red Sox are 26-26 with the chance to go over .500 on Saturday. In the first of their doubleheader against Baltimore, I’m backing Boston to pull off a victory.
The Red Sox offense exploded on Friday with 19 runs. Five players had two or more hits, so everyone contributed throughout the lineup.
Rafael Devers led the way with two home runs including a grand slam and eight RBIs. Devers is the second best DH in baseball behind Shohei Ohtani, which makes Boston’s lineup dangerous.
The biggest concern for Boston heading into the game is Alex Bregman’s status, as he left Friday’s matchup with an injury. Bregman won’t play, but his missing bat could mess with the lineup.
Nevertheless, the team should have plenty of success off Zach Eflin. Eflin is 3-2 with a 5.08 ERA. He limits walks, but does give up hits, so look for Boston to capitalize on his mistakes.

The Colorado Rockies are the worst team in baseball, and it’s not close. They have outdone the White Sox’s poor effort in 2024 as they have just nine wins through their first 51 games.
Chicago was better than this last season, and they were the laughing stock of baseball. The Rockies are coming off a 3-2 win against the Yankees, but this shouldn’t happen again.
New York will respond, and I expect them to win by more than two runs. Max Fried will pitch for New York, and he has been one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Fried is 6-0 with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. He has allowed just 43 hits in 62.2 innings with 60 home runs.
Fried also keeps the ball in the yard, surrendering just three home runs in his time on the mound. The Yankees are too good to lose two consecutive games to Colorado.

The Athletics have been better than expected this season. They most likely won’t make the playoffs, but they have hung around in the playoff race this season.
Nevertheless, it will be tough to stay alive against Philadelphia for the rest of their series. The Phillies have won eight straight games, and beat the Athletics 4-3 on Friday.
Jeffrey Springs is on the mound for Oakland, and he is one of the better wings in the American League. However, Cristopher Sanchez will match his effort and Philadelphia’s bullpen will close the game.
Philadelphia is 16-10 on the road this season, compared to the Athletics with an 8-18 home record. The Phillies are playing well, so ride their momentum.
