First up on our list of MLB prop bets for Wednesday is for Zac Gallen to record seven or more strikeouts against the St. Louis Cardinals. Gallen has been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball this season. Against a middling St. Louis lineup, expect him to have another excellent start at home to help his team in their fight to make the playoffs this season.
Gallen’s strikeout numbers have been down over his last couple of starts after the All-Star break, which could be cause for concern for some bettors in this prop market. But his last two starts, where he struck out five batters each outing, came on the road. When looking at the home/road splits for Gallen this season, bettors should feel confident that he will pick things up again in this matchup.
In 10 starts at home this season, Gallen is 9-0 with an ERA of 1.48. More pertinent to this prop bet, he has struck out 76 batters in 67 innings of work at home, averaging 7.6 strikeouts per home start and over a strikeout per inning. Look for Gallen to continue to mow down opposing hitters in this game in order to help his team get a much-needed home win in a crowded NL West race.

The Chicago Cubs are hot as of late, having won four games in a row going into Wednesday’s action against the Chicago White Sox. Making things better for the Cubs is the fact that Marcus Stroman is pitching in this game, giving the Cubs a great chance to win a fifth straight. Here, we like Stroman to record at least 18 outs, making it through six innings to help his team keep its slim playoff hopes alive.
Helping Stroman to go deep into this game will be the less-than-stellar offense of the White Sox. Chicago’s American League team has lost four straight games, failing to reach the five-run mark in any of those four games. Against a pitcher who is hanging around in the NL Cy Young conversation, the White Sox should continue to struggle putting the ball in play in dangerous spots, as they rank in the bottom-10 in team batting average and runs scored on the year.
As for Stroman, he has pitched at least six full innings in 15 of his 21 starts this season. While he has gone under this total three of his last four starts, this is a favorable matchup for him. Look for Stroman to get back on track and for the Cubs to continue to play well as they look to inch closer to the .500 mark on the year.

Our final MLB prop bet for Wednesday takes place out West, as the San Diego Padres host the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here, our focus is on the offense of the Padres taking on the pitching of the Pirates. Specifically, we like Juan Soto to drive in at least one run as the Padres aim to claim the rubber match of this three-game series.
Soto and the Padres get to take on a struggling starting pitcher in this game, as Johan Oviedo takes the mound for the Pirates. Oviedo is just 3-11 on the season so far, with an ERA of 4.77. He has allowed at least five earned runs in four of his last five starts, and those struggles should continue against the dangerous bats in Slam Diego on Wednesday night.
Soto has been producing admirably for the Padres of late, as he leads the team in RBI on the year. In his last 10 games, Soto has driven in 12 runs, averaging more than an RBI per game during that span. Look for Soto to once again produce offensively to help the Padres win a game that they need to have against a Pirates team that has really been struggling.
