Reds vs. Tigers - Brady Singer vs. Jack Flaherty (1:10 PM, EST)

Cincinnati takes on Detroit in a matchup featuring two really good arms. Brady Singer will get the start for the Reds against Jack Flaherty and the Tigers. 

Singer has a 6-4 record and a 4.59 ERA, along with 56 strikeouts. Although he doesn’t record many strikeouts, he is one of the best contact pitchers in baseball. 

Walks have been an issue for Singer lately, but he will perform well against a good Tigers team. 

Flaherty comes into this matchup with a 3.41 ERA and tremendous strikeout ability. He has fanned 85 batters in 75.1 innings, including nine in his last start. 

Anytime you can find a pitcher with great strikeout ability, it’s a great idea to look at the NRFI. Flaherty excels in big situations and does a great job of getting out of innings quickly.

Both offenses have been swinging the bats well in 2025, but I trust the pitchers in this spot. Detroit has a team batting average of .250 and Cincinnati is right behind them, hitting .245 as a club. 

Look for Singer and Flaherty to get ahead in the count early resulting in poor at-bats to start the contest.

Twins vs. Astros - Joe Ryan vs. Hunter Brown (4:10 PM, EST)

My favorite NRFI of the day is a matchup between Minnesota and Houston. Hunter Brown has been one of the best arms in baseball and is looking to capture the AL Cy Young Award. 

Brown is 8-3 with a 1.82 ERA, one of the best in baseball. He has 93 strikeouts in 79 innings and is coming off a nine-punch-out performance in his last start against Cleveland. 

Joe Ryan has also had a great 2025 season. He is 7-2 with a 2.96 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts. 

Both offenses have been solid, and both teams are in the top 18 in team batting average. The Astros have been slightly better, hitting .254 as a team, the eighth-best in the league. 

Both pitchers can go deep into this game, and they will likely shut down the offenses. 

We don’t often get a pitching matchup this good, and we plan on taking advantage of this by taking the NRFI.
