Mets vs. Padres - Nolan McLean vs. Griffin Canning (10:10 PM EST)

The New York Mets will continue their series with the Padres in San Diego on Saturday. 

Under 0.5 Run (-120)

The Mets will hand the ball to Nolan McLean, who has flashed impressive strikeout upside throughout the season. The right-hander owns 77 strikeouts across 66.1 innings while allowing just 50 hits, showing an ability to limit quality contact even when traffic develops on the bases.

McLean's combination of swing-and-miss stuff and a solid 1.12 WHIP makes him a pitcher capable of navigating dangerous lineups early in games.

San Diego counters with Griffin Canning, whose overall numbers have been disappointing, but he still possesses enough strikeout ability to work through a clean first inning. Canning has recorded 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings and will only need three outs against a Mets lineup that can occasionally be prone to slow starts.

While Canning carries some risk, McLean's ability to miss bats gives this matchup enough upside to back a scoreless first inning.

Guardians vs. Rangers - Tanner Bibee vs. Jack Leiter (7:35 PM EST)

This matchup between the Guardians vs. Rangers features two pitchers whose records don't fully reflect their talent level.

Under 0.5 Run (-130)

Tanner Bibee enters with an unfortunate 0-7 record, but the Cleveland right-hander has still shown the ability to keep games under control. Bibee has struck out 60 batters across 69 innings while limiting opponents to fewer than one hit per inning.

Texas will counter with Jack Leiter, who continues to showcase the potential that made him one of baseball's top pitching prospects. Leiter has recorded 74 strikeouts in 66.1 innings while allowing just 60 hits, giving him the type of swing-and-miss profile NRFI bettors love to target.

Both pitchers have enough stuff to challenge hitters at the top of opposing lineups, and a quick first inning would not be surprising in what projects as a competitive matchup.

Pirates vs. Braves - Braxton Ashcraft vs. Spencer Strider (4:10 PM EST)

The Pirates and Braves should put on a show on Saturday. Pittsburgh is trying to chase down the standard in MLB.

Braxton Ashcraft has quietly put together an outstanding season for Pittsburgh. The right-hander owns a 2.77 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 74.2 innings while striking out 81 batters and allowing only 60 hits. 

Atlanta will counter with Spencer Strider, who looks more like the dominant version of himself with each start. Despite pitching only 31 innings this season, Strider has already piled up 40 strikeouts while allowing just 22 hits.

Few pitchers in baseball possess Strider's ability to overwhelm hitters, especially early in games when his velocity and command are at their sharpest.

With Ashcraft enjoying a breakout campaign and Strider bringing elite strikeout potential to the mound, this matchup has all the ingredients for a NRFI to open the night.
