There are several strong arms taking the mound across today's MLB schedule, giving NRFI bettors plenty of opportunities to target scoreless first innings.
The Brewers and Braves square off behind an electric rookie, while the Blue Jays and Cubs feature two starters who have done an excellent job limiting baserunners. Out west, the Mariners and Red Sox close the night with a matchup between two pitchers carrying ERAs below 3.25.

Pete Crow-Armstrong has been crushing for the Cubs, so he will be a player to watch when Chicago hosts Toronto on Friday.
Kevin Gausman has put together another quality season for Toronto, posting a 3.41 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 87 innings. The veteran right-hander has recorded 86 strikeouts while issuing only 16 walks, allowing him to stay ahead in counts and avoid unnecessary trouble.
Chicago counters with Ben Brown, whose breakout season continues to gain attention. Brown owns a 1.74 ERA and 0.97 WHIP through 62 innings while allowing just 41 hits and one home run. Opposing hitters have struggled to square him up all season, making him a difficult matchup regardless of the opponent.
With both pitchers excelling at limiting traffic and hard contact, this game is well-positioned to have a scoreless first inning.

The premier pitching matchup of the day takes place in Atlanta. Every time Jacob Misiorowksi takes the mound, it’s must-watch television.
Misiorowski has been nothing short of dominant, compiling an 8-2 record with a 1.34 ERA and 0.74 WHIP. Through 87 innings, he has allowed only 42 hits while piling up 131 strikeouts. Few pitchers in baseball have been better at overpowering hitters, and his strikeout rate gives him enormous NRFI value.
Perez has quietly been one of the steadiest veterans in the National League. The left-hander owns a 2.90 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 62 innings while allowing only 44 hits. He may not rack up strikeouts at Misiorowski's pace, but he consistently keeps opponents from generating big innings.

It has been a nightmare season for the Red Sox and it will likely continue in Seattle.
Ranger Suarez enters with a 3.21 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through 70 innings. He has fanned 70 batters while allowing just four home runs all season. His ability to keep the ball in the yard has been a major factor in his success.
Seattle turns to Bryce Miller, who has been exceptional in limited action. Miller owns a 1.54 ERA and an eye-popping 0.71 WHIP through 35 innings.
He has surrendered only 20 hits while striking out 36 batters and walking just five, giving him one of the best stat lines in baseball.
Both pitchers have done an outstanding job preventing early damage, making this another matchup worth targeting in the NRFI market.

Pirates vs. Rockies - Bubba Chandler vs. Kyle Freeland: This is my favorite YRFI on the slate. Freeland enters with a 7.98 ERA and has allowed 84 hits and 14 home runs in just 58.2 innings, while Chandler has struggled with command throughout the season. With two vulnerable starters and Coors Field boosting offense, there's a strong chance a run crosses the plate in the first inning.
