The 2023 World Series is set to kick off tonight, and we expect it to start with a bang. Both offenses have been seeing the ball well and scoring early in games. Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia have been on fire for the Rangers as they led the team to baseball’s most prominent stage. Gallen will likely see both of them in the first inning, and we think they can stay hot in front of their home crowd tonight.
While the Rangers offense has been among the league’s best all season, the D-Backs have been very good of late. Ketel Marte has led the charge with a .358 batting average, two home runs, seven RBIs, and two stolen bases. The second baseman has had a hit in every playoff game during Arizona’s run, thanks partly to hitting in front of Corbin Carroll. The budding superstar is a five-tool player who has had some big hits in this game. If Marte can get on base, we love Carroll’s chances of driving him in.
Speaking of the Rangers, they will have Nathan Eovaldi on the mound tonight. The veteran has been fantastic in the postseason, with a 2.42 ERA across four starts. However, he struggled his last time out. Eovaldi allowed two runs across 6 ⅓ innings but allowed five hits and three walks. He allowed a run to score in the first inning of that start, and we think he will do so again tonight under the bright lights of the World Series.
If you aren’t sold on this bet yet, let's talk about D-Backs starter Zac Gallen. The ace was good in 2023 but was not as sharp as he had been over the previous few years. He has some nasty stuff, but the Phillies absolutely hammered him in the NLCS. Gallen surrendered nine runs on 14 hits across 11 innings, losing both games. He has also allowed a first-inning run in three of his four playoff starts, a trend we see continuing today.
