Best NRFI Bets Today September 13 23

Texas Rangers vs Toronto Blue Jays - Jordan Montgomery (LHP) vs Yusei Kikuchi (LHP)

First Inning Tie (-130 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Texas Rangers have owned the Toronto Blue Jays throughout this series. The Rangers are 2-0 in the series and have outscored the Blue Jays 16-7. There are still two more games to go, and we expect Texas to keep winning games.

Even though Texas has dominated the first two games, both teams have been exceptional regarding NRFI bets the past two days. The NRFI has hit in the first two games, and we’re taking a variation of it once again on Wednesday.

We’re betting on a first inning tie, which gives us a little extra support in case a run is scored in the top half of the inning. We wanted the protection because the pitchers have been inconsistent at times in 2023. Yet, we believe they can come together for a strong first inning.

Jordan Montgomery will pitch for the Rangers. He is 8-11 with a 3.62 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Over 161.2 innings, he has allowed 158 hits with just 17 homers. Keeping the ball in the yard is his biggest strength on the hill, and it’s great for limiting early runs.

Yusei Kikuchi, who will pitch for Toronto, hasn’t been as dominant regarding homers. Yet, he has elite strikeout ability, which helps him get out of jams. Kikuchi has fanned 160 batters in 148.2 innings, and we like him to continue racking up strikeouts against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Cincinnati Reds vs Detroit Tigers - Connor Phillips (RHP) vs Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP)

Under 0.5 Runs (-125 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Reds and Tigers are two of the bottom teams in their respective central divisions. The Reds looked like they had a chance to win the NL Central at one point in the season. However, they’re seven games out of first place and looking to 2024.

Cincinnati cooled down in the past couple of months because of their offense. The unit has calmed down drastically, and it hasn’t helped them cover up a lackluster pitching staff. Yet, the quiet offense is perfect for an NRFI, especially against a pitcher like Eduardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is 11-7 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Over 130.1 innings, he has allowed 110 hits with just 12 homers. He limits the hits and doesn’t give up the long ball, which makes him ideal for an NRFI bet.

The tough part of this wager will be in the bottom half of the inning when the Tigers bat. Detroit doesn’t have a great offense, but they’ll face Connor Phillips, who has struggled in the big leagues.

The 22-year-old only has one start in the show, but it was a five-run performance over 4.2 innings against the Mariners.

Detroit’s offense is nothing like Seattle's, but he must still locate to get through this inning clean. We’re going to trust the young wing in this spot.

San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers - Blake Snell (LHP) vs Ryan Pepoit (RHP)

Under 0.5 Runs (-102 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

The NRFI line in Wednesday's Padres vs Dodgers game is lower than expected. San Diego and Los Angeles have great offenses, and bookmakers are recognizing this with their -102 NRFI line. The YRFI is favored in this game, but both pitchers have been sensational in 2023.

Blake Snell will throw for the Padres, and he is 13-9 with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. Over 161 innings, he has allowed just 110 hits with 209 strikeouts. These numbers are some of the most dominant you will see in Major League Baseball.

Ryan Pepoit has also been strong in his brief time on the mound. Over 21 innings, he is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA and a 0.52 WHIP. He has only allowed nine hits and one homer in this span, so we trust the young wing in this spot.
