When in doubt, it’s a good idea to let pitchers point you in the direction of what hitters to target for home run props. That’s the tactic we used on Wednesday. Whether that hitter has a track record against that particular pitcher, we’ve selected hitters who match up favorably against the pitcher they’ll face today.

There are some fantastic home run props out there today, but some stand above the rest. Below are the players we’re locked in on.
Not many hitters look forward to facing Seattle’s George Kirby, but Henderson is one of them. Henderson is 7 for 16 (.438) with two doubles and a home run in his career against Kirby. With a sample size that big, those numbers are no fluke, which is why we’ll back Henderson to go deep, even if Kirby doesn’t give up a lot of home runs.
After all, Henderson is one of Baltimore’s best power hitters. Despite hitting just .220 on the season, Henderson has 13 home runs and has put together some good at-bats over the last week. With his track record against Kirby, he’s one of our favorite home run targets for Wednesday.

Jung is far from an obvious candidate, especially with the Rangers facing Seth Lugo on Wednesday. But Lugo has had some surprising trouble with right-handed power hitters this season. Righties are slugging .476 against him and are responsible for five of the seven home runs he’s allowed, which helped lead us to Jung.
For starters, six of Jung’s eight home runs have come against right-handed pitchers, as he’s shown a little more power against righties. He also has a previous home run against Lugo despite just three career at-bats against him. Jung also has a six-game hitting streak and is batting .316 on the season, making him the type of hitter you want to target.

Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs are playing at Coors Field this week, so it makes sense to target him. Despite going hitless and striking out three times on Monday, Crow-Armstrong is still swinging a hot bat with five home runs in his last nine games. His power has come alive lately, and there’s every reason to think that will continue at Coors Field.
The kicker is that Michael Lorenzen is on the mound for the Rockies. While Crow-Armstrong has never faced Lorenzen before, everybody is hitting Colorado’s pre-season ace. Lorenzen boasts an 8.01 ERA on the season, while also giving up 11 home runs. He’s liable to get knocked around again, giving Crow-Armstrong as good a chance as anyone of taking him deep.

Max Scherzer makes his return from more than a month on the IL on Wednesday, and it’s a good opportunity to take advantage of the future Hall of Famer. Before the injury, Scherzer had allowed seven home runs in just 18.2 innings. He’s always been vulnerable to the long ball, even more so as Scherzer gets older and his velocity drops.
Left-handed hitters, in particular, have hurt Scherzer the most. They are slugging .647 against him, with lefties hitting five of the seven home runs Scherzer has allowed. Conversely, Harper has hammered right-handed pitchers, hitting 11 of his 14 homers against them, while slugging .577. He’s also 6 for 24 with three home runs in his career against Scherzer, and it’s not hard to envision him adding a fourth on Wednesday.
