Monday’s home run props are going to require some patience. That’s because all four players we’re targeting play on West Coast teams that will be playing late in the evening. We didn’t do it on purpose, as there are some good options on the East Coast as well. But these are the four players we feel are the best home run targets to begin a new week.

There are some fantastic home run props out there today, but some stand above the rest. Below are the players we’re locked in on.
It’s unusual to target a left-handed batter who’s facing a left-handed starting pitcher. However, this is an exception because Kurtz and the A’s are facing Eric Lauer, who has allowed 16 home runs in just 64.2 innings this season. While left-handed hitters are only responsible for four of those home runs, they are also hitting .300 and slugging .600 against Lauer.
Lauer only has 40 at-bats against left-handed hitters, which means they are going deep against him every 10 at-bats. Meanwhile, Kurtz has hit six of his 19 home runs against left-handed pitchers. He’s more than handled himself against southpaws, and after going without a home run in his last six games, Kurtz is due for what will be his 10th home run of June.

Marte and the Diamondbacks will face Tyler Mahle on Monday. In his career, Marte is 8 for 15 with three doubles and two home runs against Mahle. That’s a big enough sample size to believe that Marte can have another big game against Mahle. The kicker is that Marte is red-hot right now, hitting three home runs in his last four games.
Meanwhile, Mahle has been one of the worst pitchers in baseball at preventing home runs this year. Granted, he didn’t give up a long ball in his return from the IL last week. But giving up 11 home runs in 62.1 innings is still a lot. Hitters from both sides of the plate have hurt him, which bodes well for the switch-hitting Marte.

Elsewhere in the Giants-Diamondbacks game, Schmidt also has a favorable matchup. Admittedly, he has the tougher matchup against Arizona’s Eduardo Rodriguez, who’s putting together an excellent season. But despite his 2.24 ERA, Rodriguez has given up nine home runs, eight of which have been hit by right-handed hitters.
The southpaw has also had a tough time with Schmidt, who is 5 for 8 with two home runs in his career against Rodriguez. That’s not the biggest sample size, but two home runs in just eight at-bats against Rodriguez is nothing to scoff at either. With Schmidt batting .357 and slugging .524 against left-handed pitchers this season, there is good value in targeting him on Monday.

With Rodriguez, we’re trying to take advantage of the Angels starting rookie Ryan Johnson. To his credit, Johnson threw six scoreless innings against the Orioles in his last start. But the young righty also owns an 8.84 ERA and has given up five home runs in 19.1 innings this season, so replicating his last performance seems unlikely.
Rodriguez is also in the middle of a five-game hitting streak, a stretch that includes three multiple-hit games, so he’s swinging a hot bat right now. Power-wise, Rodriguez has been hot and cold this year, hitting 10 home runs in May but just two thus far in June. But with his bat heating up, it’s worth taking a flier on Rodriguez against a young pitcher who’s been vulnerable to the long ball.
