Tylor Megill is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA so far this season
Padres leadoff man Xander Bogaerts has a hit in eleven of his twelve games this season
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso leads the MLB with five home runs

I don’t trust Taylor Megill to be able to beat this impressive Padres offense. With Blake Snell due for a breakout start, this game will go to the Padres.

San Diego comes into Wednesday after getting a 4-2 win against the Mets last night. It was an excellent bounce-back for an offense held scoreless by Scherzer and the Mets’ bullpen to open the series. The best part of their win last night was that they had production from every part of their lineup. Their bats were hot in their previous series against the Braves, so expect another big game today.
We’ll be watching to see how Juan Soto does today. Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado, and Nelson Cruz have all hit well at the top of the lineup, but Soto has struggled. He owns a .190 batting average and is 0-5 with three strikeouts in the series. Soto is due to have a breakout game, and tonight against Megill and a shaky Mets bullpen should provide an opportunity to do just that.
Blake Snell enters Wednesday desperate for his first quality start of the season. He owns a 7.88 ERA and a 2.13 WHIP over his first two starts. He has yet to make it through the fifth inning and has shown struggles with his control. In his last start, Snell gave up two walks and threw 88 pitches in just 3 ⅔ innings.
Snell went 1-1 against the Mets last year with a 4.00 ERA but threw five scoreless innings to get a win at Citi Field last season. In fact, his ERA was .50 points lower on the road this season. That means he may be in for a bounce-back performance from the veteran starter.
The Mets dropped last night’s game 4-2 after scoring a run and leaving two on base in the bottom of the ninth. While their bats were hot in the first game, they managed just five hits against the Padres last night.
One issue to watch is going to be the Mets' bullpen. David Robertson has been great filling in for Edwin Diaz, but the rest of the bullpen has been an issue. We saw that last night as Dennis Santana gave up two runs in the top of the ninth, which would prove crucial. With Tylor Megill on the mound, the bullpen may take over the game early. If they can’t improve, things will get ugly.
The Mets will send third-year starter Tylor Megill to the mound tonight. Megill has been fantastic this season, going 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA in his first two starts. He looks better than he has over his first two seasons, but both starts came against a mediocre Miami Marlins team.
Now, he’ll need to replicate that against one of the best lineups in the league. Megill was much better at home last season, with an ERA of 4.37 versus 5.84 on the road. The former eighth-round draft pick has shown flashes of what he could be, but consistency has been an issue. A solid start tonight could indicate Megill is ready to have a breakout season.

I am a huge sports fan; locally, many know me as the guy who does the PA for our high school football team on Friday nights. Having grown up in Michigan, I am a sports fan of all the Detroit teams, and at the college level, I love Michigan State sports.
