Nets vs 76ers Game 2: Philadelphia Looking to Stay Undefeated Against Brooklyn

  • The 76ers are 5-0 against the Nets in 2023
  • Philaldpehia won game one by 20 points
  • James Harden had 13 assists in game one

The Philadelphia 76ers made a statement in game one of the first round, beating the Nets 121-101. Brooklyn had spots where they looked okay, but it was clear that Philadelphia was the best team on the floor.

This is the case once again heading into game two, as the 76ers are now 5-0 against the Nets this season. For Brooklyn to win game two, they must hit Philadelphia on a bad night and play at an elite level. It’s unlikely we see this in a single game, let alone throughout the series.

Even though we expect the Sixers to cruise once again, there are still multiple markets to look at in this Eastern Conference battle. Let’s take a look at the best way to make money on game two.

Nets vs 76ers Game 2 Predictions

Nets vs 76ers Preview

The Sixers kept their winning streak alive against the Nets in game one, cashing an easy win. There was never a point where we were worried as Philadelphia bettors since Brooklyn isn’t on an even playing field. Now we need to determine if the Nets can cover the double-digit spread dealt to them on FanDuel Sportsbook. In game one, Philadelphia was favored by 8.5 points, and they covered this two times over. However, it’s tough to win by double digits in the NBA consistently.

In the NBA, winning typically corresponds with star power. The teams with more star power win, and Philadelphia has a lot of players that are better than the combination of Brooklyn’s stars. The Nets performed well throughout the regular season because they had talents like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Those players were traded at the deadline, which automatically hurt Brooklyn.

In game one, the Nets had no answer for James Harden’s vision on the floor. We see him having another big night passing the basketball, and the recipient of his assist success is typically Joel Embiid. Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton played well in game one, but there isn’t enough strength in numbers for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Nets Preview

The Nets got great performances in game one out of Bridges and Claxton. These two players will be very good for Brooklyn for years to come. If the Nets can add some talent to their current roster, they have a chance of making a deep run in the future. However, this isn’t their time to take down the Sixers.

Bridges had 30 points and shot 67% from the field in game one. Nic Claxton had ten boards in the series opener, but only one of these came on the offensive end of the floor. The biggest need for the Nets in game two is the ability to create second-chance scoring opportunities.

Philadelphia grabbed 14 offensive boards compared to five for Brooklyn. The Nets were exceptional with their defensive rebounds compared to Philadelphia, but this isn’t going to win games in the playoffs against the Sixers.

Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The 76ers did exactly what we expected them to do in game one of the series. They dominated the offensive glass, which was the biggest difference in the game. The Nets were more efficient from the field, shooting 55.7%. The defensive effort was good for the Sixers but winning won’t be sustainable in the future if they allow teams to shoot 50%+ from the field.

Harden and Embiid stole the show in the first game against Brooklyn. The Sixers will go as far as these two players take the team in future rounds. The Sixers are now 6-3 ATS in their past nine games.

The team has also dominated Brooklyn this season and in years prior. The team is 9-2 straight up in their past 11 games against the Nets. Philadelphia is playing well at the right time, and we should see them come out with a vengeance on Monday night.

Nets vs 76ers Pick

The Nets had an efficient performance in game one against the 76ers. They shot 55.7% from the field and 44.8% from the three-point line. However, it was clear they were outmatched as they consistently turned the ball over and couldn’t get offensive rebounds. The likelihood that the Nets shoot 55.7% from the field throughout this series is slim, and they were still bested by 20 points hitting this threshold.

If Brooklyn can be better on the offensive glass, limit turnovers and shoot 50%+ from the field, they could cover the ten points in game two. Although, the likelihood of this happening isn’t high. Brooklyn can keep this game close with a fast start, but eventually, the Sixers will pull away.
