UConn vs. DePaul Prediction: Huskies Are a Massive Road Favorite

The Connecticut Huskies, the best team in the nation, will face DePaul on Wednesday night. UConn enters the game as a massive 23.5-point favorite.

This line may seem substantial, but the Huskies can cover it quickly if they become hot from the field. This game could quickly get out of hand for DePaul because of their lack of experience.

Even though the Blue Demons are the home team, they’re just 3-20 on the season and haven’t shown any signs of life. The team has yet to win a Big East game, and they likely won’t do it on Wednesday against the defending National Champions.

Look for Connecticut to dominate from the opening tip, but we still have many questions that must be answered. Will the Huskies cover the spread, and will the total stay over or under the line?

Here, we will break down the entire matchup and give our best bets for UConn vs. DePaul.

UConn vs DePaul Prediction

UConn vs. DePaul Betting Odds for Wednesday, Feb. 14

FanDuel Sportsbook is similar to many books in that they’re not giving DePaul much chance to win on Wednesday. Anything can happen in college sports, but Connecticut is the aggressor entering this contest.

While we don’t recommend it, you can bet DePaul’s moneyline for 240-1. This means $1 would win $240 if DePaul pulled off the year's upset in the Big East. The spread of 23.5 and the total 141.5 are the two markets to analyze in this contest.

Teams Spread Moneyline Total
UConn Huskies -23.5 (-115) -10000 Over 141.5 (-110)
DePaul Blue Demons +23.5 (-105) +2400 Under 141.5 (-110)

Barring one of the biggest upsets of the year in college basketball, UConn will win on Wednesday night. However, covering 23.5 points on the road against any team is tough.

Connecticut’s strong play is hard to bet against because they have dominated teams all season. The Huskies have a crop of playmakers and a tremendous bench.

They’re not as strong as last season, but the Huskies could have more depth this season. The combination of depth and experience in the big games makes them very tough to stop.

UConn has two players who have led the way, both coming out of nowhere. Tristen Newton’s improvement from his junior to senior season has been tremendous to watch.

The guard averages 15.2 points per game, with a team-leading 6.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists. The one flaw with Newton is his efficiency, which has fluctuated. He is shooting just 40.7% from the field, but the senior doesn’t miss when he is on.

Cam Spencer has been the three-point specialist for UConn. Spencer started his career with Loyola before transferring to Rutgers and then UConn. Spencer has shot 45.2% from three this season and has broken the backs of many opponents down the stretch of games.

There isn’t a player on the Blue Demons who can stop the combination of these two players. Even if Spencer and Newton aren’t playing well, there is still a lot of star power throughout Dan Hurley’s roster.

Da’Sean Nelson is the player to watch for DePaul. He has been the one shining star on a dreadful team. He shoots 46.6% from the field while scoring 10.6 points per game.

Even though Nelson has played well, he is DePaul’s leading scorer. The Blue Demons don’t score many points, which makes it very hard to beat a team like UConn. In his first game against the Huskies, he dropped 19 points and was 53.8% from the field.

Yet, UConn still won by 29 points, easily covering the spread. Nelson could have another great game, and the Huskies still should overpower DePaul.

UConn vs. DePaul Prediction and Betting Pick

According to the ESPN matchup predictor, UConn has a 98.2% chance to win on Wednesday. Connecticut has the advantage in nearly every category. It’s tough to lay 23.5 points on the road, but it’s the most viable betting option.

UConn averages 81.3 points per game, while DePaul is set at 64. The Blue Demons also allow 15 more points than UConn and shoot 7% worse from the field.

Connecticut has won 12 games in a row, while DePaul has lost 11 straight. They have been beaten by over 20 points in four straight games. Lay the points with the Huskies.
