49ers vs. Colts Prop Bets: Rivers Returns to Primetime Stage
Christian McCaffrey leads the 49ers in rushing and receiving yards
Jonathan Taylor averaged over 100 rushing yards per game
Philip Rivers had 120 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in his NFL return last week
The Indianapolis Colts, losers of four straight games, are welcoming the San Francisco 49ers, winners of four straight, on Monday Night Football in Week 16.
There’s no bigger story in the NFL right now than 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers returning to the field in a desperate attempt to save the Colts’ playoff dreams. Their chances of winning the AFC South have faded, and they’re now on the outside looking in at the postseason.
On the flip side, the 49ers survived one of the worst injury plagues in the NFL to climb to 10-4 in a wide-open NFC. They haven’t beaten a team with a winning record since Week 5, but they’re hot, and they have several key players back from injuries. Find the latest NFC Championship odds here.
Here, I will break down my top player prop bets and picks for the 49ers vs. Colts MNF showdown.

Jonathan Taylor Over 98.5 Rushing Yards (-120) at bet365 Sportsbook
Taylor has been a workhorse for the Colts, previously picking up steam in the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year conversations for his dominant performances. Although he went under this line in four straight games, he still averaged more than 100 yards rushing per game on 5.3 yards per carry.
Taylor carried the ball 25 times last week and nearly got to the over against the best run defense in the league (the Seattle Seahawks). Now, he faces a Niners squad that is dead last in success rate against the run since Week 10, which bodes well for Taylor.

Christian McCaffrey Over 35.5 Receiving Yards (-110) at bet365 Sportsbook
McCaffrey hasn’t been that productive as a receiver recently, but don’t let that fool you. The 29-year-old back still leads the Niners in receiving yards (820) and went over this line in all 12 games before his two-game cold streak.
The Colts allowed the second-most passing yards per game, and they’ll have to be up near the line of scrimmage to contain the Niners’ ever-present threat of running the football. This only takes a few catches to beat, and McCaffrey is more than capable of logging another over.

Philip Rivers Under 0.5 Interceptions (-105) at bet365 Sportsbook
Look, Rivers was brought in to hand the ball off, complete low-risk throws, and move the chains. He did a great job of that last week and was about to go under this line, until he tossed a game-ending INT on what would’ve been the game-winning drive.
As long as the Colts don’t find themselves in a situation as adverse as that, Rivers has a great chance here. The 49ers also recorded the second-lowest interception percentage (1.04) in the entire NFL, only ahead of the New York Jets, who miraculously don’t have an interception all year.

Brock Purdy Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+120) at bet365 Sportsbook
It’s not that I think that Purdy is incapable of getting over this line, it’s that he doesn’t have a great track record of it. Since he returned to the field on Nov. 16, he split the over/under at two games apiece, and both overs came against the horrific passing defenses of the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.
The Colts might not have the best secondary in the world if Sauce Gardner doesn’t play, but they have a terrific head coach and game-planner in Shane Steichen. They also figure to try to play clock control with Taylor, limiting Purdy’s chances to get over this line.
