It’s episode 124 of Wise Kracks and joining us today is a guest that not only reads the guys’ minds but absolutely boggles them too!

We also talk about Jimmy G’s injury, who the public is favoring for the Super Bowl, overpaid quarterbacks, Aaron Judge’s next move, Jon’s picks for UFC 282, and more. Let’s get into it!

Your hosts Bill Krackomberger and Jon Orlando talk about the San Francisco 49ers' division leader hopes in the aftermath of a Jimmy Garoppolo injury. Are they still in the running?

Since Sunday, 22% of bets, the most in this category, at a renowned sportsbook are pointing toward a certain team winning the Super Bowl. Which team is it?

With such a strong showing this NFL season, do the guys think that the NFC East is the strongest division since the 2013 NFC West division?

With plenty of blockbuster MLB trades and signings over the last few days, the name on everyone’s mind is Aaron Judge. What does his choice mean for his career?

UFC 282 takes place this weekend, with a lineup that is sure to bring a few barnburners. Who do the guys have?

Bill and Jon are joined by famous mentalist Oz Pearlman, a man who has had people questioning reality since his run on America’s Got Talent in 2015.

Recently appearing on ESPN, and having performed for the likes of Ellen Degeneres and Jimmy Fallon, Oz faces his greatest challenge yet… tricking Jon and Bill!

He also discusses his upbringing, how sports bettors and mentalists are similar, and applying his fortune-telling skills to betting. You’re going to want to see this and more on this week’s Wise Kracks!

Are the 49ers Down and Out without Jimmy G?

Jon shoots a sly grin, “Seems like just what the Dallas Cowboys needed…”

With 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo out for 6-8 weeks with a foot injury, Jon sees them as less of an opponent for his cherished Cowboys. As current division leaders, it’s up in the air as to if this injury will hinder the 49ers' chances of holding that lead.

With backup quarterback Brock Purdy stepping up and besting the Miami Dolphins, Bill thinks it’s nothing to worry about, “This kid that stepped in, he should’ve been a first-round pick… I think they’ll still win the division.”

In betting spaces, Bill acknowledges that all the sharp guys were on San Fran to do them some good, and he still thinks it could work out for them, “Jimmy G was the leader of the clubhouse… hopefully Purdy steps in and changes the momentum.”

Amongst talk of playoff potential, Jon shares some fun betting trivia from the NFL, “I have a wild stat for you. Since Sunday, 22% of the bets are on the Cincinnati Bengals to win the Super Bowl.” At a popular sportsbook, this is the highest percentage amongst any team in the NFL to satisfy this bet.

Bill doesn’t see why not, “You know, they shouldn’t be counted out, Joe Burrow is great!” This then shifts into more quarterback talk, where Bill has a thing or two to say about how quarterbacks are being paid, “I don’t know if these numbers are going to be thrown around for quarterbacks anymore… they should be thrown around on new guys like Burrow, not antiques!”

It of course wouldn’t be an episode of Wise Kracks without a little Cowboys love from Jon, “They’re looking hot right now, they annihilated the Indianapolis Colts!” This past Sunday, the Cowboys destroyed the Colts 54-19, with the Cowboys scoring 33 points in the final quarter alone.

With that win, it’s becoming more and more apparent that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cowboys are on a collision course to see who will represent the NFC at the Super Bowl.

With the Eagles and Cowboys leading such a dynamic division, it begs the question: is the NFC East this season the strongest division since the 2013 NFC West division? Bill doesn’t think so, “We’re living in the moment, we see the Eagles and Cowboys right away… but we’ve also seen the way these teams lose, I think the 2013 one is better.”

Closing out the NFL talk, Bill expresses something that makes Jon’s day, “I’ll tell you this, the Cowboys are probably the best team in football.” Jon lights up, “I absolutely agree with you, and I’m going to need to hear you say that again!”

Can Oz Pearlman Read Bill and Jon’s Impenetrable Minds?

Joining Bill and Jon this week is world-famous mentalist Oz Pearlman. Oz comes from a long string of appearances from television talk shows to stage shows in Las Vegas. He had a career breakthrough when he placed 3rd on America’s Got Talent in 2015, wowing the judges with magic tricks and illusions week after week.

When Bill saw Oz blow Tom Brady’s mind in a recent visit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room, he had to get him in a (virtual) room with Jon and himself. Bill sings the praises, “You’ve got to see this guy!”

I know you may be thinking: what does this have to do with sports betting? Oz assures that there’s more in common between the way a sports bettor and a mentalist think than you would assume, “Sports bettors and mentalists; our Venn diagrams overlap. Much like the sports bettor, we’re also mathematical and analytical guys.”

Bill concurs, and also amends this statement, “Sports bettors also don’t believe in luck, we’re a pretty cynical group!”

Things begin to kick off as Oz prepares for his first trick. He first admits that doing what he does is much more of a challenge when performing virtually, “If I’m in person, I have all the tools in the world… when I’m doing it over the camera, it’s like all I have are crayons.”

Now, we don’t want to spoil it here as it is incredible to witness, but let’s just say Oz may have “cracked the code,” to bust into Bill’s bankroll. You’re just going to have to tune in to see what makes Jon scream!

Oz swiftly dives back into the conversation, “Sports bettors are going to call BS on everything… you use hedges in what you do, and so do I. It’s how I read people.”

However, that’s not the end of Oz’s tricks, as he’s got Jon lined up with a deck of cards. Safe to say you’ll want to tune in for this one as well, as Jon will be trying to figure out how he pulled this one on him for months!

With betting always on his mind, Bill wants to know if Oz has ever applied his magic to table games like poker. For Oz, it’s all about being in control, “When you’re at a poker table the dealer is in control… things are moving too quickly and I can’t control the way the situation plays out.”

In his line of work, it’s all about the quick hits, “Impatience destroys people more in gambling.” This is why he’s more committed to the entertainment field, “As embarrassing as it seems, I’m not a good poker player!”

Bill asks him about the kind of shows he does, and with an upcoming show in Vegas, he might have to drop in for a quick greeting. Oz explains, “Large-scale corporate events are my bread and butter…amazement transcends all languages, and everyone loves to have their mind blown.”

Oz’s bag of tricks doesn’t end at sleight of hand; he’s also an accomplished marathon runner, “I ran from Montauk to Times Square… it was 130 miles and I broke a record!” If a trick were to ever go wrong, he could easily sprint away before getting caught!

As Oz signs off, Jon has missed a truly great opportunity. It is quite possible that Oz possessed the answer to “Will the Cowboys win the Super Bowl?” I guess he’ll have to wait until Oz’s next visit!
