Could This Have Been A More Devastating Halftime Comeback For Big Bettors?

“The Indianapolis Colts… what happened!?”

Bill and Jon are still flabbergasted by the Colts' loss to the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend after holding a 33-point lead for the first half. The Vikings completely blew them away in the second half of the game, with an end-game score of 39-36.

With this huge first-half lead for the Colts, many bettors jumped at the opportunity to place some halftime bets. Needless to say, it did not work out for them. Bill doesn’t mince words, “People are idiots for putting bets on this!”

One sportsbook reported taking a $1,800 moneyline bet on the Colts, and at -20,000 odds, they would’ve walked away with $9. At another sportsbook, someone put $50k down at -5,000 odds. Bill parses out bettors’ over-confidence, “They’re thinking that a 33-point lead is a lock… anything can happen!”

What Jon can’t wrap his head around is why people would bet so much to win so little, “Why wouldn’t you put down less on something like roulette to win the same amount if you wanted $10 so bad?” Bill laughs, “Maybe money laundering?”

Jalen Hurts Is Out… Along with an MVP Title?

The Eagles may be down bad after losing their star quarterback Jalen Hurts to a shoulder injury. However, for a Dallas Cowboys fan like Jon, this is some swell news, “Now, I don’t wish injuries upon anyone, but the fact the Cowboys might not have to face Hurts this week makes me smile a bit!”

Understandably, Jon is looking for a little retribution after the Cowboys’ loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend, “It was such a bad game… interceptions like crazy!”

With Hurts’ condition up in the air, his MVP odds shifted from -145 to +500. Bill chimes in, “I think it’s an over-movement… it doesn’t actually mean anything.” However this may be, Bill sees Patrick Mahomes as a better MVP bet.

Speaking of favorites losing, Jon had the opportunity to take in the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots game… in Mark Davis’ box suite! Jon was surrounded by stars, “Dana White. Mark Whalberg, Marcus Allen!”

This sounds like a great time to Bill, but he still has a bone to pick with the Raiders, “They knocked me out of my survivor pool…. I hope they never have another winning season ever again.”

The Betting Markets of the Past

Jon is feeling inquisitive, “I wanted to ask you this: are there any bets or markets that you no longer bet on that you used to like doing?”

Bill thinks for a moment, “NASCAR was different back in the day. It’s much more unpredictable now.” In the past, Bill had all the good info on NASCAR races, much better and more practical than what the NASCAR official website was sharing. Bill explains, “We knew about the different cars, the different tires… we didn’t need to know about lap times!”

It might surprise you that Bill used to be more avid about betting futures, a type of bet that he doesn’t look at favorably now, “I would do it on a lot of different sports, but I know people don’t like to tie their money up for extended periods of time.”

Bill also used to bet on the WNBA. With markets always changing, Jon understands the bettor’s evolution, “You have to constantly change and pivot.” Jon nods in agreement, “Adapting is the only way to win!”
