My -130 Pick for Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leeds United

Roberto De Zerbi has given Tottenham Hotspur a fighting chance of survival, and we are backing them to make it three wins on the bounce when Leeds United come to town.

Tottenham Hotspur Showing Signs of Fight Under De Zerbi

Winning back-to-back games in the Premier League is not usually cause for celebration at Tottenham Hotspur, a club which begins virtually every season with the goal of qualifying for the Champions League. This has not been an ordinary campaign for Spurs, though, which explains why their supporters are so delighted by a return of six points from the last six available. All of a sudden, Tottenham fans believe again.

Roberto De Zerbi lost his first game at the helm of the north Londoners, overseeing a 1-0 defeat by Sunderland. He then watched his side concede a last-gasp equalizer to Brighton, who struck late at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to secure a 2-2 draw. At that point, demotion to the Championship - once an unthinkable proposition - appeared more probable than not.

Tottenham’s trip to Molineux Stadium last month was billed as a must-win game, and the away team did what they had to do. It was not particularly pretty, with Spurs creating fewer chances than their manager would have wanted, but Joao Palhinha notched the only goal of the game to give De Zerbi his first victory as Spurs boss.

Beating last-placed Wolves is one thing; overcoming Champions League-chasing Aston Villa is another. Tottenham’s 2-1 triumph over Unai Emery’s side last weekend was hugely impressive, as De Zerbi’s men dominated the game from virtually the first whistle. True, Villa were not at full strength ahead of their Europa League semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest, but Tottenham’s performance showed how far they have come since De Zerbi took the reins.

At the time of writing, Spurs are outside the bottom three by a point, but that could change on Sunday when West Ham United host Arsenal. However, if the Hammers were to lose that match as the best online sportsbooks expect, it would give Tottenham the opportunity to pull four points clear of trouble on Monday. That would put them within touching distance of safety.

Farke Has Done Great Job to Pull Leeds United Clear of Trouble

A few weeks back, it looked like this could be a massive match for Leeds United as well as for Tottenham Hotspur. It is to the credit of Daniel Farke and his players that it might essentially be a meaningless fixture for the Whites. Indeed, if West Ham lose to Arsenal on Sunday, Leeds would be guaranteed another season of Premier League soccer regardless of what happens in their match against Tottenham.

Even if West Ham were to beat Arsenal, it is difficult to see Leeds going down from here. With three games remaining, they have a seven-point cushion above the dreaded dotted line. It would take a remarkable turn of events for Farke’s men to succumb to relegation from here. Leeds will almost certainly still be in the top tier in 2026/27.

There was a time when that appeared unlikely. Leeds won the Championship last season, but their roster looked short of quality at the beginning of the current campaign. After a 3-2 loss to Manchester City in late November, Leeds had won only three of their first 13 matches and were 18th in the standings.

Yet that game proved to be a turning point. Leeds were 2-0 down at half-time, at which point Farke switched to a 3-5-2 formation. His team almost rescued a point in the second period, then went on a seven-match unbeaten run. Since that setback at the Etihad Stadium, Leeds have suffered just four defeats in the Premier League - only Manchester City, Bournemouth and Manchester United have lost fewer games since then.

Leeds Playing With Freedom but Tottenham Need Another Win

Leeds United’s aforementioned record over the last five months shows why this is not a straightforward assignment for Tottenham Hotspur, despite their status as favorites. Leeds might actually be one of those teams who are more dangerous now they have nothing left to play for. Unlike Spurs, Farke’s men can perform with freedom on Monday.

However, for the first time in a while, Tottenham have momentum behind them. They were genuinely superb against Aston Villa, who had no answer to Spurs’ relentless pressing. De Zerbi has already put his stamp on this team, especially out of possession, and he looks to have given the players confidence too.

Again, that is not to say Leeds will be easy to beat here. Tottenham have kept back-to-back clean sheets, but their defense will be tested by Leeds, who use a direct, physical approach. Spurs will need to deal with that threat while ensuring they do not make any silly mistakes in dangerous areas.

The home fans have their frustrations with the way the club has been run, but they will put that to one side on Monday and concentrate on backing the team. Expect another hard-running, intense display from De Zerbi’s side, who will look to pinch possession high up the pitch and control possession in the center of the park.

Tottenham can take another step towards safety by making it three wins on the bounce in the Premier League. Back the home team to beat Leeds in this one.
