Portugal vs. DR Congo: BTTS Yes (+125) at BetMGM
The second of our BTTS predictions today football centers on Portugal vs DR Congo, where our prediction is goals at both ends. The elephant in the room for Portugal is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 41 years old and way past his peak. Ronaldo’s track record is incredible, but that does not mean he is the right man to start up front for Portugal in 2026.
That could be an issue as the competition unfolds, but it will not necessarily hurt Portugal in its first game. With Ronaldo surrounded by the likes of Rafael Leao, Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes, Portugal will create plenty of chances today. DR Congo is defensively sturdy, but it will struggle to keep Portugal out.
Yet it is worth a wager on DR Congo scoring too. Portugal conceded in its two tune-up friendlies against Chile and Nigeria, while DR Congo has found the net in three of its last four matches. Back BBTS yes at +125 with BetMGM.

England vs. Croatia: BTTS Yes (-130) at BetMGM
England has never won a major tournament overseas, while it has now been 60 years since it lifted the World Cup trophy on home soil. Another summer of success is long overdue and England is among the favorites to go all the way this time, but it has a difficult start against a familiar foe in Croatia.
These two teams met in the last four of World Cup 2018, when Croatia came from behind to win 2-1 and reach the final. England has gotten revenge since then, beating Croatia in the European Championship and the Nations League, but Zlatko Dalic’s side is always a tough opponent.
Croatia continues to rely on its old guard led by Luka Modric. This is a team which tends to deliver on the biggest stage, and it has scored in six of its last seven matches. England, meanwhile, has drawn only one blank in 24 matches over the past two years. Choose BTTS yes at -130 with BetMGM.

Ghana vs. Panama: BTTS No (-125) at BetMGM
Our Both Teams to Score tips do not extend to Ghana vs Panama, where we reckon at least one of these two sides will keep a clean sheet. In truth, this is unlikely to be one of the most entertaining matches of the group stage. Indeed, Ghana and Panama look like two of the weakest teams at the tournament.
Ghana arrives at the World Cup in poor form, having lost six and drawn one of its last seven games. The Black Stars failed to score in four of those matches, and star player Antoine Semenyo has a disappointing record for the national team with just three goals in 34 caps.
Panama is not a top-class offensive force either. It does not offer a great deal from open play, although set-pieces are a potential route to goal. This game could easily finish 0-0. Ultimately, we do not envisage both sides scoring. Pick BTTS no at -125 with BetMGM.

Uzbekistan vs. Colombia: BTTS No (-175) at BetMGM
Matchday one concludes with Uzbekistan vs Colombia, the final game in the first round of fixtures at World Cup 2026. Uzbekistan is one of four debutants this summer, and its hopes of getting out of its group rest on keeping things tight at the back. The Central Asians only conceded seven goals in their final 10 qualifiers, with Manchester City’s Abdukodir Khusanov an important part of the backline.
Keeping the Colombia offensive unit quiet will not be easy, though. Los Cafeteros plays with attacking intent, using a talented front four of Jhon Arias, James Rodriguez, Luis Diaz and Luis Suarez. That quartet has the guile and nous to pick holes in the Uzbekistan backline.
Uzbekistan will find it hard to get meaningful possession high up the pitch. You only need one chance to score a goal, so it is not impossible that Uzbekistan finds the net, but Colombia will probably keep a clean sheet in this one. Select BTTS no at -175 with BetMGM.
