Karachi Kings Look To Get off the Mark Against Aging Quetta Gladiators Batting Line-up

Quetta Gladiators will take on Karachi Kings in the match no. 6 of the PSL 2023 on February 18. The Saturday evening fixture will take place at National Stadium in Karachi.

Karachi Kings, who finished at the bottom last season, haven't had a desired start this year with two losses in the first two games. They lost the first game against Peshawar Zalmi by just two runs and were then defeated by four wickets by Islamabad United.

Haider Ali top scored for Karachi on Thursday with 59 off 45 while Sharjeel Khan added 34 off 26. They were going along nicely at 8rpo in 14 overs but then lost wickets in a cluster. They managed to post 173/7 in the end. Karachi had a couple of early wickets but were then hammered by Colin Munro and Azam Khan as Islamabad chased down the target with 10 balls to spare.

Quetta Gladiators' start to this season was also disastrous as they were thoroughly outplayed by Multan Sultans in their first match. Jason Roy looked in good touch with 27 off 18 but couldn't keep going.

Fast bowler Ihsanullah ripped apart their batting line-up with sheer pace, taking 5 for 12 to dismantle the Gladiators for 110. Multan mowed down the target in 13.3 overs with Rilee Rossouw blasting 78* off 42.

Team News

Karachi Kings had James Vince and Sharjeel Khan open the innings second game with Matthew Wade moving down the order. Haider Ali showed good form in the match while Qasim Akram was left out for another emerging player Irfan Khan. Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim hold the key in the lower middle order. Karachi went with four pacers in the previous game with Andrew Tye, Muhammad Musa, Mohammad Amir and James Fuller. Imad Wasim was the solitary frontline spinner with Malik as a part-timer.

Quetta Gladiators have Jason Roy and Martin Guptill at the top of the order. They have the likes of Umar Akmal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Hafeez and Iftikhar Ahmed in the middle order. This batting line-up comprises players who are well past their prime. The bowling attack looks good with Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain and Nuwan Thushara as the pace trio. The spin department of Mohammad Nawaz, Hafeez and Iftikhar doesn't pose a huge threat.

Key Players

James Vince fell cheaply in the previous game but remains a key player in this fixture. The English batter has good experience, having played across the globe. He has over 8600 runs in the shorter format at an average of 31 while striking at 134. Vince has been in excellent form, coming off a 439-run campaign in the ILT20.

Jason Roy looked in good touch in the first game and has the ability to annihilate bowling attacks on good batting surfaces. The opening batter has amassed over 7800 runs in T20 cricket, averaging 27.5 at a strike rate of 141. Roy has hammered five hundreds and 53 fifties in the format.
