Do you take the side that has been underwhelming for most of the 2021 Apertura season?
Chivas de Guadalajara have yet to provide consistent results, and in their latest 0-0 draw with Pumas, they collected their fourth scoreless scoreline from their last five matches.
What about Pachuca? Do you have confidence in a team that has only been able to earn a single victory since the beginning of August?
Pachuca have been average at best this season and seems to be running out of energy in recent weeks.
In a battle of two middling squads, all signs point to a stalemate. Pick the draw for Chivas vs Pachuca.

This is as much of a mid-table battle as you can get.
Under manager Victor Manuel Vucetich, Chivas have failed to impress in 2021, and frankly, for most of his tenure since taking charge last summer.
Confidence is dropping within the squad, and after finishing with yet another scoreless performance last week, Vucetich might not hold onto his position much longer.
Things aren’t as dire for Pachuca, and they do have a game in hand, but two wins in seven matches isn’t exactly the sign of a team that’s making progress.
That said, one of the few praises we can provide for Chivas and Pachuca are their occasionally good defensive performances.
This means that more than likely, we might see another 0-0 or 1-1 on Saturday.
They might not be scoring goals, but they are doing a satisfactory job of shutting down quality chances.
According to xGA (expected goals against) numbers from Wyscout, Chivas have a tally of 8.27 while Pachuca have a total of 7.87 — both below the league average of 9.36.
Granted, Pachuca do have a game in hand, but even if they were to up the rating by another point, they would continue to be below the average.
With approaches from their managers that can at times focus more on shutting things down in defense, as opposed to taking chances, a draw seems to be in the works.
Chivas Have The Home Field Advantage But Have Been Inefficient In Front Of Net
What about Chivas’ chances at home? At the Estadio AKRON, will they have enough of an advantage to claim three points?
Problem is, whether it be at home or away, Chivas have constantly had issues with finding the back of the net.
Despite the fact that they’re third in the league this season when it comes to total shots after Week 8, they’ve only been able to score seven times in eight matches.
There’s a desperation to Chivas in the final third, and during most games, it isn’t out of the ordinary for them to rush things with low percentage shots from distance.
Speaking of finding the back of the net, Pachuca have strikers that have yet to step up.
Only one player has scored more than one goal this season, and that’s midfielder/winger Victor Guzman who collected a brace during the first match of the Apertura.
Nicolas Ibañez has been disappointing in his six starts as the #9, and in support, Roberto de la Rosa hasn’t offered much as a backup.
Assuming trends continue, Pachuca would be lucky if either of these options were able to score even once this weekend.
