Juárez do not have the best of records against Mazatlán but could get the win this week as they have been doing well this season.

Juárez have faced Mazatlán six times in Liga MX since they made it to the top flight in 2019. The home side has won twice, while the away side has won the rest – there has never been a draw between these two teams.
When they met in Clausura earlier this year, Mazatlan won 2-0. Brian Rubio scored a brace to help his team win despite having just 38% of the ball.
Juarez had the majority of possession but failed to get a single shot on target. The home side could not make the most of their possession and failed to create chances.
On the other hand, Mazatlan had just three shots on target, and scored twice. They were comfortable in sitting back and defending the ball instead of attacking and going for a bigger win.
It was a similar scenario when the two sides met in Apertura last season. Juarez had 59% of the ball, 11 shots, of which three were on target but still lost 3-1.
Mazatlan had just two shots on target in the entire game, and scored from both. Camilo Sanvezzo and Bryan Colula scored for the home side, while Jose Garcia’s own goal handed them the early lead. Pedro Raúl pulled one back for Jaurez in the 77th minute but could not spark a comeback for his side.
The last time Juarez defeated Mazatlan was in the 2021 edition of Clausura. They once again dominated possession but had just two shots on target – scoring once from it. Darío Lezcano scored the lone goal of the match, as Juarez walked away with all three points. The Away side tried their best to make a comeback but could not get any of their 11 shots to hit the back of the net.
Juárez made a decent start to the season and were unbeaten in the first three games. They kicked off the season with a goalless draw at Guadalajara and went toe-to-toe with them.
They traveled to face Club Tijuana next and managed to stun the home fans. Gabriel Fernández scored twice in the second half after Lucas Rodríguez was sent off for Tijuana. The away side grabbed all three points with the 2-0 win after dominating the game.
They could not do much in their first home match of the season, as Queretaro forced them to share points with a 1-1 draw. Juarez had 62% of the ball in the game, took 14 shots and managed to get 4 of them on target.
Gabriel Fernández was once again the goal scorer for the home side, but he missed a penalty as well in the first half. The scores were level at that point after Jordan Silva equalized 7 minutes after the home side took the lead.
Since then, things have not been great for Juarez as they went on a 5-match winless streak. They were beaten 1-0 by Club Necaxa in gameweek four, before Tigres UNAL defeated them with the score line in the next match.
Juarez managed to make a slight comeback by drawing against Toluca and Atletico de San Luis. They held both teams to a 1-1 draw and were keen on scoring points to help them qualify for the playoffs this season.
Jesús Dueñas helped them make things better in the game against Atlas by scoring the lone goal of the match. The midfielder scored right after the hour mark in a tight game to seal the win and three points for the away side.
Juarez have done well this season mainly because of their smart transfer policy. They loosened the purse strings this summer and signed Darwin Machís, Mauro Laínez, Jesús Dueñas, Javier Salas and Adrián Mora to bolster the squad. They also lured in Carlos Salcedo, Emiliano Velázquez, and Alfredo Talavera on a free transfer, while Alan Medina joined on loan from Club America.
The squad reshuffle saw Martín Galván, Carlos Rosel, Juan Chávez and Juan Velásquez getting sold, while José Esquivel, Flavio Santos, Anderson Leite, Francisco Contreras, and Paul Aguilar were also released.
Maximiliano Olivera is suspended for the game against Mazatlan, while Javier Salas is in danger of getting suspended for the next game if he gets booked.
Mazatlán made a poor start to the season this time and were winless in their first six matches. However, they have managed to make a good comeback in the last two matches to put themselves back in contention for the playoff spots.
Puebla visited the Estadio de Mazatlan in the first game of the season and managed to get a 4-2 win. Mazatlan could not do much at the start and were down 2-0 in the 14th minute. They managed to pull one back right after the second half started, but the away side restored their 2-goal lead via Martín Barragán. Amaury Escoto made it 4-1 to put the result beyond doubts, while Gabriel Lopez pulled one back to make the score line a little more respectable at the end.
André-Pierre Gignac scored the lone goal of the match when Tigres visited Mazatlan in the second game week. The Frenchman found the back of the net in the 7th minute and that was enough for them to collect all three points despite playing with just 10 men for the majority of the second half.
Mazatlan picked up their first points of the season when they visited Clausura table-toppers and finalists, Pachuca. They followed it up with a draw against Atletico de San Luis and Pumas UNAM – getting a point from all three games with the same 1-1 scoreline.
Their decent comeback in the season was halted quickly as Club Tijuana handed them a 2-0 loss. Carlos Vargas’s own goal and Victor Guzmán’s second half strike were enough for the home side to collect all three points.
However, Mazatlan did not lose their confidence and bounced back with a 2-1 win over Guadalajara. Oswaldo Alanís scored the winner with just one minute remaining in the game after Angel Zaldívar canceled out Alfonso Sánchez’s opening goal for the home side.
Things got better for Mazatlan in the next match as they defeated Club Leon 3-0. Nicolás Benedetti and Eduard Bello scored the goals, while Jaine Barreiro’s own goal opened the scoring in the match. All three goals were scored in the first 17 minutes of the match and the home side could not make a comeback.
Mazatlan could not make it a hat-trick of wins and drew with Queretaro last week.
No player is injured or ruled out.
