Our first best bet for the weekend in MLB comes in the huge matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs. The Diamondbacks got a 1-0 win over the Cubs on Friday, as Zac Gallen overcame his woes on the road to throw a complete game shutout. On Saturday, the Cubs should be able to get revenge, as their ace takes to the mound looking to throw a gem of his own.
Justin Steele has been nothing short of incredible for the Cubs this season, going 16-3 with a 2.55 ERA. Those numbers both rank in the top-two in Major League Baseball. He should continue his incredible season by helping the Cubs to pick up a win here. And with us making this line much steeper for the Cubs, it is certainly worth betting on them to get the job done on Saturday afternoon.

Next up, we go to the all-NL East matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins from Citizens Bank Park. Going into Saturday’s action, the Phillies hold the top Wild Card spot in the National League, while the Marlins are a half-game out of the third and final Wild Card spot. Here, we like the Phillies to both win and cover the runline thanks to their advantage in the pitching department in this contest.
A big reason to take the Phillies in this game is the fact that the Marlins are sending Johnny Cueto to the mound. Cueto has pitched just 37.1 innings this season, but this is far from the version of Cueto that used to be a real threat to opposing hitters out there. He is 1-3 with a 5.54 ERA for the season in his limited action. He will continue to struggle to help the Phillies to create some more separation between these teams in the Wild Card race.
Finally, expect there to be a good, old-fashioned pitcher’s duel in the Bronx on Sunday, when the New York Yankees face the Milwaukee Brewers. Corbin Burnes and Gerrit Cole are on the mound for this game, and we expect there to not be many runs as a result. Look for this game to go under the total of 7.5 runs, at a price that is very close to being at even money on Sunday afternoon.
Cole and Burnes are both have ERAs under 4.00 for the season to this point. But it has been Cole that has been one of the true stars on the mound in baseball this year, as he is a heavy favorite to collect the AL Cy Young award. Look for both of these star pitchers to get the job done against struggling opposing lineups and for this game to fail to reach eight total runs on Sunday.
