Best MLB Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Royals (8:10 PM EST)
Royals ML (-138) at FanDuel Sportsbook
The Kansas City Royals have turned their season around over the last month, and we expect them to add another win to their record tonight. One reason for their recent success has been Brady Singer (8-6, 2.88 ERA, 1.16 WHIP), who will be on the mound for Kansas City tonight. The righty struggled against Boston when he faced them last month, but we love his chances to bounce back tonight.
Singer’s tough start against the Red Sox last month came on the road, but now he’ll be at home. He is 6-3 with a 2.20 ERA. He has won three starts since that outing, allowing just three runs across 21 innings. Boston’s talented lineup will be challenging, but Singer’s recent play shows he is locked in.
The Red Sox will have recently acquired Jame Paxton (8-3, 4.52 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) starting tonight. The veteran started the season strong but has been awful over the last two months, posting a 6.12 ERA since June 1. A change of scenery doesn’t appear to have helped, with Paxton allowing six runs (three earned) over 4 1/3 innings in his first start with Boston.
Paxton last faced the Royals in his final start of 2023, allowing six runs in just 1 1/3 innings. This is a far better Royals lineup in 2024, ranking eighth in batting average and runs scored. The 35-year-old has allowed at least four earned runs in three straight starts, and we expect him to do so again tonight.

Best MLB Bets Today: Phillies vs. Dodgers (10:10 PM EST)
Phillies ML (+116) at FanDuel Sportsbook
This matchup features the NL’s top two teams, but both have struggled since the All-Star break. That leads us to look at the pitching matchup, where the Phillies will have an advantage with Aaron Nola (11-4, 3.43 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) on the mound tonight.
Nola is having a solid year for the Phillies, and he will be facing the Dodgers for the second time in a month. In his last start against LA, he allowed just one run over six innings en route to a win. While he will be on the road for this one, that hasn’t been a problem for Nola, who is 6-1 when away from Citizens Bank Ballpark.
The Dodgers will also have a veteran on the mound tonight in Tyler Glasnow (8-6, 3.50 ERA, 0.96 WHIP). The righty has been solid in his first season with the Dodgers, but he posted a 5.00 ERA in June and has lost his last two starts.
The Phillies have been struggling to get wins since the All-Star break, but their offense hasn’t been the problem. They are averaging 4.9 runs per game over their last eight, which is bad news for Glasnow tonight. With Nola on the mound, the Phillies' fantastic lineup will be able to do enough to secure a win tonight.
