On Friday, the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox were unable to complete the first game of their weekend series, as torrential rains made their way to Fenway Park. The two teams will complete that first game on Saturday afternoon, before they play this second game on Saturday evening. In that second game, expect the Mets to win, regardless of the outcome of the series opener when it is completed.
A big reason to expect the Mets to win this contest is the fact that Max Scherzer is on the mound for New York. Scherzer is now 8-3 on the season and he has worked his ERA down under the 4.00 mark. Against a Red Sox team that is in the bottom-half of the AL East standings, Scherzer should be able to have his way and deliver his team to a victory.
Offensively, the Mets have a power bat hitting from the right side that can take advantage of the green monster in left field. Pete Alonso will be a threat to hit the ball off of the monster or over the monster every time he comes to the plate. James Paxton will need to be very careful with him every time Alonso comes up to bat to avoid disaster.

Our next MLB best bet for this weekend comes on Saturday evening, when the Minnesota Twins host the Chicago White Sox. Both of these teams are sending high-level starters to the mound for this game, as Dylan Cease of the White Sox will face off with Sonny Gray of the Twins. Here, we like Gray and the Twins to get the job done and to help the Twins win another game at home.
Gray has a record of just 4-4, but he has an ERA of 3.16, which is better than Cease’s 4.18 ERA. What has helped make Gray so effective this season is the fact that he has only allowed three home runs for the season. His ability to keep the ball in the yard will be one of the key difference makers in this battle of two of the better pitchers in the American League.
Also working in the favor of the Twins is the fact that their offense is firing on all cylinders of late. They have scored five or more runs in three of their last four games, winning all three of the games where they hit that mark. That includes a 9-4 over the White Sox on Friday, which has set the tone for this contest on Saturday night at Target Field.

The final game that has made our list of MLB best bets for this weekend is the AL East rivalry game between the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon. These teams are neck and neck in the race for the AL East championship. In this game, expect the Orioles to win at even money to come out of this series with the upper hand.
Baltimore has the pitching edge in this Sunday afternoon matchup, as Tyler Wells has been better than Taj Bradley for most of this year. Bradley is 5-6 on the season with a 5.29 ERA, while Wells is 7-5 with a 3.54 ERA. That superiority from Baltimore’s starter will put them in the driver’s seat as they look to close their weekend out with a victory.
Meanwhile, the Rays offense has really sputtered of late, wasting the dominant start that they had this season. If the Rays offense continues to struggle in this game, they could see their grip on the AL East continue to get more tenuous.
