MLB Player Props, April 20

The following odds are from FanDuel, where the MLB Prop Bets can be made.

Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox

My Pick – Tanner Houck Prop To Record For Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+120)

The Boston Red Sox have a big matchup against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. They will need an impressive pitching performance from Tanner Houck to limit the stellar batting of the Twins down just enough to give the Red Sox’s batting a chance.

Through 18 games this season, the Twins have stuck out 175 times, which is the second most in the AL. So far through the series, the bullpen for the Red Sox have delivered six strikeouts in game one and 16 strikeouts in game two, with 11 strikeouts from Chris Sale.

In 14 innings pitched this season, Houck had delivered 15 strikeouts. While the Twins are a solid hitting team, they are prone to strikeouts aiming for the big hit. This will be a bet that could be worth the effort.

Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees

My Pick – Aaron Hicks Prop To Record A Hit (-120)

Shohei Ohtani is not the only highly efficient pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. Patrick Sandoval is starting at the mound for the Angels, who has allowed only 11 hits and recorded a season ERA of 1.23 in 14.2 innings.

This game will be a tough task for the Yankees to get their batting game going. While the Yankees have several talented batters at their disposal including reigning MVP Aaron Judge, the batter that will be called on first against an efficient pitcher is Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

In 17 games, Rizzo has accounted for 19 hits, which leads the team. Rizzo also has a team-high .311 batting average. If there is one player to create a spark for the Yankees’ batting, it will be Rizzo.

Los Angeles Angels vs Chicago Cubs

My Pick – Nico Hoerner Prop To Record A Hit (+160)

On Thursday, the first game of a four-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs will kick off. Jameson Taillon (4.50 ERA in 14 innings) will get the start for the Cubs while the Dodgers will start off with struggling pitcher Michael Grove (9.0 ERA in 13 innings).

The Cubs have become a serious playoff contender thanks to their impressive hitting team. Among the best hitters for Chicago is second baseman Nico Hoerner, who leads the team in hits accounted for with 26 and a batting average of .347. He has only struck out six times this season for the Cubs.

He will be a batter that will be one of the most relied on from the beginning of this series to the end.

San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks

My Pick – Ryan Nelson Prop To Record Under 5 Strikeouts (-120)

The San Diego Padres were supposed to possess one of the most dangerous offenses in the 2023 MLB season. Through 20 games this season, the Padres have been far from the best offense in the league as they are 11th in the NL in hits accounted for 144), 10th in strikeouts (174) and last in the NL in batting average (.223).

This game should be a great opportunity to put solid trust in the bullpen of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona will be starting one of their top three starting pitchers in Ryan Nelson, who has a season ERA of 3.71, allowed only seven runs and delivered 10 strikeouts.

While this may be enticing to bet on the potential of Nelson, he is not a player that creates many strikeouts. While Nelson could still have a great game today, he will be tough to account for solid strikeouts.

New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants

My Pick – Kodai Senga Prop To Record 6 Strikeouts (-180)

New York Mets pitcher Kodai Senga has started his MLB career on a solid stretch. Through three games played and 16 innings pitched, Senga has a season ERA of 3.38 while allowing only 13 hits, three home runs and 10 walks while delivering 21 strikeouts.

Senga will be facing off against a Giants team that has struck out 188 times this season, which is the most in the AL. The Giants also rank 11th in batting average at .240.

If there is one solid bet for today’s game, you can bet that Senga will continue his solid NL Rookie of the Year performance with a dominant fourth game this season.
