The Major League Baseball regular season stretches across 162 games. With that, you’ll have almost endless possibilities for prop bets that you can make.
Here at WSN, we provide you with a “Best MLB Prop Bets Today” article each day to help with your decision-making for making prop bets.
Not only will that help if you’re new, but below, we’ll cover how we choose the best prop bets, provide insight into how our writers perform, go over various types of bets, and look at online sportsbooks that offer them.

Here's what you can find on this page:
When we make our prop bet selections, we do so while knowing that you may potentially wager them. Thus, we take our research and guidance through these bets seriously. When evaluating which prop bets we advise making daily, we consider the following things:
Recent Performance of a Team/Player: In baseball, “getting hot” is something we often hear about. Sometimes, players and teams get into a groove where they hit everything that comes their way or are dominant on the mound—tracking recent performance, especially against certain types of pitchers or hitters or against specific teams, factors into the decision-making process.
Evaluating the Pitcher: Starters in Major League Baseball typically last five or more innings. With that, players will get a chance to face a starting pitcher two or more times, making them a vital part of deciding which prop bets to make. If a pitcher struggles against left-handed hitters, we may see how that hitter performs to see if they’re an excellent option to take advantage of a favorable matchup.
Evaluating Odds: With betting of any kind, the odds play a vital role in deciding what has value and what doesn’t. While we only want to recommend winning wagers, there’s sometimes something to be said of finding a bet that may present more value (for example, those with “+” odds). On the flip side, while we may be confident in a prop, sometimes taking a chance on something with odds of -200 or greater may diminish all its value.
Odds Shopping: With so many online sportsbooks on the market today, we’ll often shop around to see what sportsbook has the best odds. Let’s use an example to explain this further. Let’s say we think Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani will have 10 strikeouts. The lines at most online sportsbooks show an over/under of 8.5, with the over at -120 and the under at +110. We could settle on that -120 line, but by spending a bit of time shopping around, we may find a line at over 8.5 that’s better or perhaps one that has an over/under of nine strikeouts but has +100 odds. We’ll do this research for you so that you know exactly where to go to get the best odds.
When betting on the MLB, you typically find two types of prop bets: Game and player props. While both have bets based on events within the game, they focus on different things.
Below, we’ll list the prop bets you’d typically find with each.
At DraftKings Sportsbook, you’ll have access to the most extensive library of prop bets—especially player props—on the market today. Some sites have more options for multiple home run props, but DraftKings covers most individual player statistics, especially for pitchers.
As a new player, you’ll receive a 20% deposit bonus worth up to $1,000 when you click our exclusive link. When you make a deposit, the 20% bonus you receive will be put into a pool, and you’ll be able to draw off of it in $1 increments per $25 wagered in cash.

FanDuel Sportsbook also has an excellent library of prop bets. Compared to DraftKings, there are few pitcher props. Still, you’ll have plenty of options for betting on home runs, including multiple home runs hit by a single player.
For new players, you’ll receive up to $200 in bonus bets when you wager $20 by clicking our exclusive link.

At BetMGM Sportsbook, you’ll have most of the player props listed above, but the field of players you can bet on is quite vast, including the projected starting lineup for each team. BetMGM also adds another wrinkle by offering up pre-packaged Same Game Parlay bets, including prop bets.
Like FanDuel, BetMGM offers a $1,000 bonus bet welcome offer. If your wager loses, you’ll receive it back as free bets. You'll get a free bet if the wager is less than $50. If it’s over $50, you’ll receive five free bets equal to 20% of the original wager.

On top of having player props available for the projected starting lineup in a game, Caesars Sportsbook doesn’t have a single menu for all the prop bets. Instead, you’ll see all of the available props in a horizontal menu instead of needing to scroll down a page that can appear almost endless due to the number of available bets. The menu includes home runs, hits, total bases, RBIs, batter runs, runs, and there is a single page for pitching props.
Caesars Sportsbook offers new players a $1,250 bonus bet and 1,000 Tier and Reward credits toward the Caesars Rewards program when you sign up with our link.
If your first wager up to $1,250 loses, you’ll receive it back as a free bet.

While PointsBet has perhaps the shallowest market of prop bets on the list, it has PointsBetting, a unique betting market you’ll only find here.
To best understand this betting market, let’s use an example.
One option you have for PointsBetting is total hits in a game. You can bet whether it’ll go over or under, but here’s the twist—if your wager is correct, your winnings will reflect the stake made multiplied by the number of hits or whatever other stat you’re betting on. Let’s say the line is 16 hits, you bet $10 on the over, and at the end of the game, there are 20 hits. Not only did you make a successful wager, but you’ll also receive your wager ($10) multiplied by the number of hits over the line (4).
In this example, you’d win $40.
When you sign up at PointsBet Sportsbook, you’ll receive five $100 second-chance bets. You’ll receive a $100 bet each day over the first five days. You must use the $100 bet daily, or it’ll expire in 24 hours.
The best way to think of MLB prop bets is that they are micro-events that happen within the confines of the more significant event, which, in this case, is the game. Instead of betting on something over-arching for the entirety of the game, such as the money line, run line, or total, you can focus on individual players or a specific team.
An MLB player prop focuses on the individual statistical performance of a player. It’s similar to fantasy sports in that you’ll decide how a player performs in a game, whether they’ll hit a home run or the pitcher will throw a certain number of strikeouts.
With prop bets, you’ll almost always find a contingency that a player must play in the game for it to be valid. For example, if you make a wager on a player ruled out before the game, the bet would be voided, and you’d receive your stake back. The same goes for pitcher props. For the bet to be valid, you’ll usually find some “fine print” associated with the prop that the pitcher must be the starter in that game.
While the extra innings rules have changed in Major League Baseball over the years, any statistics a player generates during the extra inning will count toward your player prop bet.
