Our first MLB prop bet for Friday night comes from the Bronx, as the New York Yankees host the Houston Astros. This rivalry series features a less than stellar pitching matchup on Friday, as Luis Severino will take the mound for the Yankees. In this game, we like the Astros to collect at least six hits against Severino, as the struggling Yankees starter will continue to have issues against the dangerous Astros order.
So far this season, Severino has a record of 2-5 and an ERA of 7.49. But it is the number of hits that Severino is allowing that is truly concerning for the Yankees, as he has given up 82 hits in 57.2 innings of work. Barring a complete turnaround for Severino, look for the Astros to continue collecting hits from the start of this game, and for Severino to have problems with the loaded Astros order.
Houston may also need every hit that they get in this game, as they send Hunter Brown to the mound. Brown has been mediocre this season, going 4-4 with an ERA of 4.12. The Yankees will certainly have their chances to put runs on the board in this game, making hits off of Severino all the more valuable for the Astros. Kansas City Royals vs Philadelphia Phillies
My Pick: Aaron Nola to record the win (-120 at PointsBet)
The Kansas City Royals have had a brutal 2023 season, and nobody has had a worse go of it than Jordan Lyles. The Royals starter is just 2-12 on the season so far, and has been a victim of poor performances around him, on top of poor performances of his own. Here, we like Lyles’ misery to continue, and for Aaron Nola to benefit from it by picking up the win when the Philadelphia Phillies face the Royals on Friday.
Nola has been perfectly fine for the Phillies this season, going 9-7 for the year with an ERA of 4.43. While those numbers are far from stellar, they are downright electric compared to those of Lyles this season. As a result, Nola should be able to put in his five innings of work, leave the game with a lead, and watch his bullpen hold things down the rest of the way.
The only question for Nola will be whether or not he gets enough run support to be in a position to win this game when he leaves the game. The Phillies rank in the middle of the pack in MLB in runs scored this year. But facing Lyles, they should be able to outperform their average output offensively and score enough runs to help Wheeler get the victory.
Colorado Rockies vs St. Louis Cardinals
My Pick: Rockies over 4.5 runs (+114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Our final MLB prop bet for Friday comes from St. Louis, in the contest between the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals. In that game, we should see plenty of scoring on both sides, as both teams bring struggling pitchers to the mound to start things off. Because of that, look for the Rockies to exceed their team total of 4.5 runs in this contest, a bet which is available at a plus price.
Colorado is facing off with Adam Wainwright in this game which has meant great things for opposing hitters this season. Wainwright is 3-5 on the season, but it is his 7.18 ERA that has raised red flags for the Cardinals. Look for the Rockies to get after Wainwright in this game, as the veteran right-hander will continue to have trouble getting hitters out and keeping runs off the board in this National League matchup.
