Atlanta Braves vs Pittsburgh Pirates

My Pick: Max Fried to get the win (+110 at PointsBet)

First up on our list of MLB prop bets for Wednesday is the National League matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates. Unlike the early 1990s, this matchup does not feature two championship-caliber teams, as the Pirates have not kept up with the dominance of the Braves of late. But that difference in level could mean profitable prop betting, as we like Max Fried to get the win here over an inferior Pirates team.

Fried comes into Wednesday evening with a 3-1 record and an impressive 1.69 ERA in his 32 innings of work so far. He will give the Braves a huge early advantage against Quinn Priester of the Pirates, who enters this matchup with a 2-1 record but an 8.69 ERA in his 19.2 innings on the mound. While Priester doesn’t have a large sample size to evaluate this season, it’s clear that Fried is the better pitcher.

Also working in Atlanta’s favor is the fact that they are the better offensive team going into this game. Atlanta is second in the league in team batting average and third in the league in runs scored as a team. They should have no problem getting run support for Fried in this game, which should help Fried pick up the decision when all is said and done.

Colorado Rockies vs Milwaukee Brewers

My Pick: Carlos Santana 1+ RBI (+140 at DraftKings)

On Wednesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies will face the Milwaukee Brewers, in a huge game for the Brew Crew. The Brewers are a game and a half ahead of both the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central. Here, look for Carlos Santana to drive in at least one run, a prop bet that is available at a plus price at DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of this National League matchup.

Santana and the Brewers should have plenty of opportunities to score runs in this game against a struggling starting pitcher in Chris Flexen. Flexen has looked nothing like the pitcher that he was as a member of the Seattle Mariners, entering this contest with a 1-5 record and a 7.82 ERA. Expect Santana to take advantage of one of those chances by driving in at least one run in this matchup.

Interesting to note about Flexen’s performance this season is that his stats on the road are worse than his stats at home, in the notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field. Flexen has a home ERA of 6.67, but his road ERA is a sky-high 9.43 in 2023. Look for Santana to find something to hit in this matchup and to knock in at least a run to prolong the struggles of Flexen away from the Mile High City.

Chicago Cubs vs New York Mets

My Pick: Kyle Hendricks 4+ Strikeouts and the Cubs Win (+210 at FanDuel)

Last up on our list of MLB prop bets for today is the matchup between the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. In that game, expect Kyle Hendricks to strike out at least four members of the Mets, and for the Cubs to win the game along the way. With a favorable pitching matchup for the Cubs, Chicago should be able to take care of business while Hendricks hits his strikeout total in the process.

That favorable pitching matchup pits Hendricks against David Peterson of the Mets, who has struggled all season long. Peterson enters this game at 3-7 on the season with an ERA of 5.65, as he has been one of many disappointments for the Mets this season. Chicago has struggled offensively in this series against the Mets so far, scoring just five runs in two games. They should break out against Peterson here.
