Best MLB Player Props September 22

On Friday night, pitchers will take center stage in Major League Baseball, including some big names. Here, we take a look at the top prop bets in MLB for Friday, including several props featuring some of those big-name arms.

Chicago White Sox vs Boston Red Sox

My Pick: Chris Sale to record the win (+135 at PointsBet)

On Friday night, an all-Sox matchup will take place when the Chicago White Sox meet the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. In that game, Chris Sale will get the start for Boston against Touki Toussaint of the White Sox. We like Sale to pick up the win in this game, as he should put his team in a position to win this game by the time he departs from this contest.

The White Sox have lost three of their last four games, and they are coming off of a blowout loss to the Washington Nationals in their last outing. Toussaint, meanwhile, is 4-7 with a 5.40 ERA on the season. He will continue to struggle in this game against a Boston team that provides him with a ballpark that is not friendly to pitchers by any stretch of the imagination.

Sale, meanwhile, has pitched well for the most part in the month of September. Outside of one start where he got rocked by the AL East leading Baltimore Orioles, Sale has allowed just one earned run in his other two starts this month. He will continue to pitch well in this game to help his team get a win as they look to avoid finishing this season in last place in the AL East.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Tampa Bay Rays

My Pick: Tyler Glasnow over 17.5 outs (-120 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

A great starting pitching matchup is set to unfold in St. Petersburg on Friday night, as the Toronto Blue Jays face the Tampa Bay Rays. In that game, Chris Bassitt will get the start for the Blue Jays against Tyler Glasnow of the Rays. Regardless of the outcome of the game, look for Glasnow to record over 17.5 outs, meaning that he will complete at least six innings for his team in this game.

This season, Glasnow has gone 9-6 and has posted a very respectable 3.53 ERA. Here, he should continue to deliver for a Rays team that enters Friday’s games just a game and a half behind the Orioles for first place in the AL East. With the Blue Jays struggling offensively, we could see an even better performance than usual out of Glasnow.

Toronto ranks 16th in the league in runs scored in 2023. Given the high expectations for the Blue Jays lineup this season, it is incredibly disappointing to see the Jays in the bottom-half of the league in scoring. That will help Glasnow to have a better game than usual, despite his lofty standards gong into this matchup.

Kansas City Royals vs Houston Astros

My Pick: Cole Ragans under 15.5 outs recorded (-120 at BetMGM)

Our final MLB prop bet for Friday night comes from the matchup between the Kansas City Royals and Houston Astros. Houston is a heavy favorite going into this game, as they have Framber Valdez starting against the Royals. But our focus is on Royals starter Cole Ragans, who we expect to record under 15.5 outs on the mound deep in the heart of Texas.

Ragans has not been horrible this year, going 6-4 with a 3.33 ERA during the 2023 MLB season. But he gave up five runs in his last start against the Astros, throwing six innings in that game. Here, we expect the Astros to continue to score runs against Ragans, but for him to fail to get past the fifth inning in what should be a lopsided game.
